(ps. make of it what you will, but i hear from a reliable source that brett was in no way responsible for any of this.)

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 3 November 2003 19:08 (twenty-two years ago)

It looks like an Ethan special to me.

dleone (dleone), Monday, 3 November 2003 19:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 3 November 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i wish i could add something but momus' ethan p. metareview really said it all :(

vahid (vahid), Monday, 3 November 2003 19:23 (twenty-two years ago)

i finally made it into pitchfork!

Heh, yeah, I like that you're quoted in it, Jess, despite the fact that, well, WHO THE FUCK IS JESS HARVELL???

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 3 November 2003 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Ethan's Eminem Show review was much better, tho.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 3 November 2003 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

DiBenzino = fucking genius

Al (sitcom), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:33 (twenty-two years ago)

the "kid'n'play" conversations are so close to ethan and my own conversations that i feel kind of creeped out even though they're not direct lifts or anything.

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Does anyone besides professional rock critics actually get a kick out of this sort of thing?

Leland, Monday, 3 November 2003 21:39 (twenty-two years ago)

No.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:40 (twenty-two years ago)

i still think "hey lady" is great!

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

(5.1 sounds about right tho)

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

if nothing else, ethan has committed one good in his life: he got brent d to quit.

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Monday, 3 November 2003 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Did the writer just use the review to do a pfm in-joke?

scottjames23 (worrysome-man), Monday, 3 November 2003 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Did the writer just use the review to do a pfm in-joke?

Could be, but I personally don't get it. I will say that the review is disarmingly raw, real, stripped, and naked. It's like, "This is me. This is Mullah Omar, warts and all. No more masks."

Mark (MarkR), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:14 (twenty-two years ago)

(except for the warts that have been airbrushed off obv)

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Mullah Omar: NAKED

Sonny A. (Keiko), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I love it to pieces

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:16 (twenty-two years ago)

head to arse interface

Fraggle, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:25 (twenty-two years ago)

that was totally incoherent and unreadable. I took in absolutely nothing, content-wise.

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I liked it for several reasons, one or two of which were "it did not use the term 'Sly and the Family Strokes'"

It could've been improved somewhat with the usage of bendy giraffes (fuck, Leisuretown is no more, so scratch that link)

nate detritus (natedetritus), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 01:46 (twenty-two years ago)

stronghost, didn't you say the same thing about joshblog?

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 02:55 (twenty-two years ago)

yes.

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 03:00 (twenty-two years ago)

but that's because i dislike dead boring europeans.

this is because i dislike live whining americans.

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 03:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Ummm.. can somebody please explain the Mullah/Choppa & Ethan/Brent deal to me? Are they all the same person? What does Jess/Strongo have to do with this??

josh h., Tuesday, 4 November 2003 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

There's nothing cooler than being an internet celebrity!

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

lemme try, Josh:

Ethan P. = Choppa = Mullah Omar = current PF writer = sole author of Obie review

Brent DiCriscenzo = former Pitchfork writer

Benzino = rapper who co-owns the Source and now fills it with crazy conspiracy theories in desperate attempts to sabotage the careers of other rappers

Jess = Strongo = ILXer quoted in review

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I still don't understand.

scottjames23 (worrysome-man), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm afraid there's not much to understand.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

what a braintrust

strongo hulkington's ghost (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow, let's hope someone doesn't post some snide comments on this blog, or else this could really get interesting!

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm so excited by this whole situation, I type "this" rather than "his"!

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

is it really as sad as it seems?

scottjames23 (worrysome-man), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 19:43 (twenty-two years ago)

i hated it at first read because i wasnt sure what to make of its seeming sincerity, i thought of it as another useless waste of review space, but knowing that Ethan, Choppa, and Mullah are the same people kinda clears things up. it's actually pretty damn funny. now i feel like it should be PFMs front page, but someone should still give obie a proper review.
