fishbone... RIP???

i cant even believe im posting this.... seriously fucking distraught!!! i havent been able to "confirm" this w/the fishbone crew cuz they're obviously on tour- (or coming back from a cancelled tour) however just got this email from the fbone email list this morning...

"It's official Soldiers.Saw Fishbone last night in Seattle at the Ballard Firehouse. After getting a little elbow from Angelo, he told my partner and I that this is their last show. They've cancelled the tour. Angelo was walking around with a Halloween style tombstone that stated plainly, Fishbone RIP. The show was electric. Walt looked really happy, Norwood just played, Angelo was maniacal and on the last song, John broke his kick peddle and they were unable to finish the number...they all had a piece of the mic and said a few words and that was it. They left the stage. Long live Fishbone. sob."

but more info from the list states...

"This scenario looked really bad from an audience perspective and it almost got worse. Spacey came out and grabbed the Mic and told everyone it was his last show with the band and that “[we] ruined it for him”. Some faint and lots of “awe… come on….” could be heard. But suddenly, the most amazing thing happened. John Stewart stepped up the mic, long after Angelo, Norwood, and Walt had left, and began thanking the fans for coming out and telling that the rumours were all true but Fishbone would be back for the fans. Spacey said something else into the mic, which John answered “whatever man” to, and then apologized for what had happened and explained that next time people should be a little more careful but still have fun. I was completely astonished. John recovered the performance with his little speech at the end. He made that connection between the fans and the band, while Spacey looked like a complete asshole (I know he isn’t, he was just pissed). He then ended by thanking everyone and threw out half a dozen or so drum sticks. "

sob :(

FRET NOT PEOPLE FISHBONE IS RESSURECTED!

straight from the horse’s mouth…(meaning Fishbone’s bassist Norwood) just got off the phone with the man himself- now while yes, it is true that Spacey and Walt have left permanently, as of “now” there are no plans for breakup. They will however be on hiatus for some time until every thing’s up to speed (if things can get up to speed) and the “plans” are that Brewster is down (old Fbone Keyboardist around 1998-2000 or so), Rocky George from Suicidal Tendencies is down, and Torri Ruffin from the Time is down to join the almighty force that is Fishbone!

wow so much drama! Go Fishbone Go!!!

*HAS HEART ATTACK*

Dude, I can see Spacey leaving, when I talked to 'em in Cincy this summer he didn't seem happy at all...but Walter, wtf!?! This still makes me really sad, holy shit (although the idea of a Rocky George & Torri Ruffinated 'Bone is very interesting).

SO MUCH DRAMA IN THE LBC IT'S KINDA HARD BEIN' F I S H B O N E.

Pablo, are you trying to make our beloved Nickalicious cry? You're a bad man!

I honestly wouldn't be surprised at this point w/ regards to not-founding members like Spacey [although he fit PERFECTLY into their sound, whatev], but it's Dirty Walt leaving that really surprises me...maybe though he'll just put out like To Put it Bluntly part 2 or something and come back, and the thought of Fishbone-with-Rocky-George is really growing on me.

Whatever happened to their guitar player who joined the cult?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Kendall Jones - still crazy. He wrote a lot of their best songs ("Fight the Youth", "Sunless Saturday" fr'instance) and now refuses to play them cuz they were written by "the devil" or something crazy like that. I miss him though, God dang he was good.

I haven't seen Fishbone live since about 1991. But if they come around with Rocky George, I am so there.

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

God dang he was good.

Well, it's God's fault he won't play anymore, isn't it.

Totally random comment, but...I love Jon Steward's voice! He sounds like a dragon or something when he talks. I'm glad he's planning on sticking with 'em though, cuz he's a great friggin drummer.
