:-)

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 04:36 (twenty-two years ago)

apparently this was Irv Gotti's idea

I want, nay, DEMAND a transcript. IT'S ON NOW, THOSE WHO WISH TO WATCH IT

nate detritus (natedetritus), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 04:37 (twenty-two years ago)

commercial break: an ad for the DVD of "Eight Crazy Nights"!!!!!!!

nate detritus (natedetritus), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 04:38 (twenty-two years ago)

they're talking about the 50-ja beef and the voices are slightly out of sync with the video and THIS IS A NYQUIL FEVER DREAM

nate detritus (natedetritus), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 04:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Murder Inc. provided the footage to major media outlets, and I've been told that MTV cut out a lot of stuff that BET chose to air unedited.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 05:04 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah... 50 was in ATL on hot 107.9 doing a instudio interview. dude basically still hates ja. he wants nothing to do with him.

Michael Ng (Mike Ng), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 06:40 (twenty-two years ago)

it's kind of funny how Ja is really laboring this whole thing and trying so hard to be look rugged, meanwhile 50 is goofing around in videos with Snoop and still has the concensus, and now and then yells "I SMELL PUSSY, JA!"

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 06:56 (twenty-two years ago)

the whole thing is a publicity stunt for his new album which comes out today...

i live in ATL & heard the interview 50 gave tongiht regarding his thoughts on hte interview. big boi from outkast also phoned in w/ thoughts & big gipp was live in the booth too.

basiclaly, ja's career was ruined by 50. 50 surpassed him in every way & clowned him in front of all hiphop fans. ja knows the only way to revive his shit career is to pull a stunt like this. 50 doesnt want anything to do with him though.

Michael Ng (Mike Ng), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 07:03 (twenty-two years ago)

50 is definitely burying Ja at this point, but I think it's a bit of an overstatement to say that 50 ruined his career. the Ja backlash was happening well before 50 blew up, "The Last Temptation" flopped before 50 or his beef with Ja became famous.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 07:18 (twenty-two years ago)

true

Michael Ng (Mike Ng), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 07:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, definitely. Dude was on borrowed time as it was...he only knew how to write one song, and he wrote it over and over again.

ddrake, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 07:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe Farrakhan's reviving HIS recording career, after the really long hiatus?

dave q, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 09:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Farra....Farra....lemme rock you Farra

(already wearing coat)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't kow who this jahrule guy is, but I did see much of this last night on BET. I laughed at this guy whose s'posed to be making his living with words (he is a rapper, ain't he?) using so many malapropisms. He seems like such a child, saying that he wasn't bothered by what 50 said, but it was just that the public were laughing at him. SOB! The whole cartoonish nature of thug rap is boring and laughable except for the fact that other people buy into it.

Is Farakan the Mr. Roger's of the Nation of Islam?

peepee (peepee), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

it's just like wrestling, until somebody dies

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

cough cough Owen Hart cough

nate detritus (natedetritus), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

that's not funny, yet i laugh

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 13:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I like how the MTV VJ idiot Sway kept seguing into the clips by pointedly referring to Farrakhan as "the HONORABLE Minister Louis Farrakhan."

50 Cent forever won that fued with those mixtape skits he has parodying Ja Rule. Especially the one where Ja Rule duets with himself. That shit is hilarious.

Ben Boyer (Ben Boyer), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I just like when he calls Ja Rule the Cookie Monster.

ddrake, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I never much cared for Ja, but I can't help but be annoyed that so much of this whole backlash is about 50 and other rappers ripping on him for doing R&B crossover joints, like they don't all do it too. granted, once Ja realized it was a profitable formula, he went on overkill with it, til everyone got sick of him. but "Put It On Me" > "21 Questions".

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I can not handle hip hop.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

it's ok, neither can most of ILM.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Ja Rule is a Pokemon.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Its not like 4Bit isn't a cartoon character either.

peepee (peepee), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe Farrakhan's reviving HIS recording career, after the really long hiatus?

that's right he was a minor calypso star no?

amateur!st (amateurist), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

i love it when veejays are obseqious to these really odious characters. "we have in the studio, the honorable mr. goebbels..."

amateur!st (amateurist), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

"give it up!"

amateur!st (amateurist), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Goebbels is the new teen icon, or hadn't you heard?

But seriously, I went out on audition to become a MTV Veejay while in college. Obviously, I lost since I wasn't enough of a kiss-ass.

Farrakan in MTV? The world has indeed gone to hell.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 19:57 (twenty-two years ago)

apparently he suggested that all the people who like Cribs should sit on one side and all the other people who prefer Dismissed should sit on the other side. the poor guys in the middle who prefer music videos to both of those were chastised for conspiring to dominate the media for their own gain.

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

farrakhan was awesome. he was like 'we should put together a tour with you guys" (and make me some money).

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Tuesday, 4 November 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Go here for (an apparently edited) transcript.

http://www.mtv.com/bands/j/ja_rule/news_feature_031103/

It didn't help me like either one of them.

pip, Tuesday, 4 November 2003 21:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I totally like Ja's cool it out attitude which he's taken in interviews all along. I mean he's not as sharp lyrics-wise but he's had the moral highground all along as far as i'm concerned. I mean 50 never confronted the "snitch" charge, and I think Ja's been the most serious about tryina avoid beef.

He's like one of the most "positive" rappers around in that sense.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 07:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I saw that, Is it just me or does Farrakan talk just like that white SNL guy's Rev. Jesse Jackson impression?

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 07:30 (twenty-two years ago)

haha - Photo: Nation of Islam/MTV News

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 07:39 (twenty-two years ago)

tryina avoid beef.

are you going to be one of those professors who misspells things in attempt to maintain illusory extra-academic cred?

amateur!st (amateurist), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 10:42 (twenty-two years ago)

also yeah farr. has the autodidact's overenunciation and talent for malapropism. it'd be funnier if he weren't an asshole.

amateur!st (amateurist), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 10:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Farrakhan: And now you're married, have children and you never hit your wife?

Ja Rule: Yes, three children — never hit my wife.

Farrakhan: That's wonderful, my brother.

Indeed it is.

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

really if he wannts to get in with farakkahn he should be tryina avoid pork har har

amateur!st (amateurist), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

ams, don't be a dick.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

[em's dis on the murder inc camp was the best thing to come out of the whole affair tho]

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

re misspelling -- we're on ilx for fuxor's sake.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

it seemed to be a deliberate misspelling

amateur!st (amateurist), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

("fuxors" sake or was that not a grebt way to make my point?)

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

that whole "--xor' business always confuses me, i never know how to use it correctly

amateur!st (amateurist), Wednesday, 5 November 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)
