Deadbeat vs. Stephen Beaupre: It's a Crackhaus Thing

I saw Crackhaus play with Akufen a few months ago and they pretty much wiped the floor with him.

So, anyone have much to say about Deadbeat's new album?

Wildlife Documentaries is among one of the closest to perfection of all albums I've heard, but I haven't really been big on his subsequent straight-up dub/reggae stuff. I'm really loving his dancefloor dubstep/techno stuff of the last year, though, am thus am curious as to what it's like.

Have heard the new album in company of others but haven't got it myself yet. Sounds pretty good: he's going for more a basic channel tribute vibe on this one (less dancehall influences than on the previous album) but he's such a good producer that you don't tend to mind.

I saw him live last weekend and he was amazing, totally slayed.

I regret skipping over (the first 2/3rds) of his set at the last Mutek. The way that man's music can fill a room is mesmerizing.

Not sure if it was the same basic set but when i saw him the first half (where he concentrated on his dancehall-ish sound) was the strongest part.

I got it, it's a doozy.

How do you mean? Are you talking about Roots and Wire?

I just mean in general, I love this dude. Although I should say Roots and Wire is great, a bit of a sleeper hit, but if you let the subtlety fade away it destroys.

Seen him live 4 times, and each set is better than the last. When I last saw him at Mutek, he played a lot of stuff I presume is unreleased, with a (female, non dub) vocalist, that sounded really great.

And The Heckler is without a doubt one of the best tracks of last year.

'Something Borrowed Something Blue' the best thing he's done I reckon.
