BurmaKitty attempted to be some Josie and the Pussycats reject, but thankfully was appropriately discovered in the "Used Singles" section of Amoeba Records in San Francisco by none other than a good looking version of Huey Newton.

The proximity of the Oakland Panther vs. Oakland Police as well as the "Free Breakfast" vs. "Free Kitten" references didn't go unnoticed by either of these cats.

For the past few months she had her mind set on being Chris Brokaw for Halloween. October came and pretty much went and she still couldn't find an appropriate hat or pair of shoes.
After we left Amoeba, she was pretty depressed...
until...
BurmaKitty reminded her, "Hey AsiaKitty, I have a blonde wig you can wear."
And with that, a lightbulb went off above AsiaKitty's head...
...and she was transformed into:
http://missionofburma.com/holdphotos/messageboards/halloween2003/fearme.gif
Fear me...
I'm COURTNEY LOVE!
and she set about breaking storefront windows and breaking into old boyfriends homes...
Then we headed towards San Francisco's Castro district before the shooting started.
We met more rocking rollers like:
Evil, Elvis, and Satan

Sure...sure...Evil Knievel isn't exactly Rock and Roll but he IS more rock and roll than some...and surely we know Satan qualifies...
Who did you think runs your favorite indie record label?
But the real punch line was when AsiaKitty recognized Kurt Cobain in the drug store.
"Momma! Look! It's Kurt! And he's not even "dressed up" as Kurt. The guy just looks like Kurt and wears the same kinda clothes! It's not even on purpose!
Well, it looked like the guy was trying not to hear us as he made his purchase.
"Uh, excuse me...My daughter thinks she's Courtney Love and well...uh...you DO look like Kurt Cobain..."
"Yeah, I get that a lot," he says, although he wasn't looking too happy about it, and he did some eye rolling when he said it. I didn't smell any alcohol on him so I asked,
"We MUST have a photo!"
"Go ahead...if you must..."
ok, maybe it wasn't so much as asking as it was a command.
as you can see, the people in line wanted more to be in the photo than Kurt himself who seemed fairly disinterested, but I am sure that was part of his charm.

Anyhow, AsiaKitty and BurmaKitty hope your Halloween was as much rock and roll silliness as ours.

I hope your Halloween was fun.
I'm sure Kurt's was all uphill from that point on. He did look kinda bummed when he realized I actually had a camera in my pocket and wasn't joking about the photo.

huey newton is my co-worker!! -- heywood jablomi
Heywood, that's interesting. I know someone who worked his homicide.
Maybe you mean the Huey Newton I met at Amoeba...in that case, can you ask him if he's available for Free Breakfast sometime?
(I won't get my hopes up since there was a far better looking and younger gal he seemed to be with when I begged him to hold still for the photo).

Yes, there was a shooting at about midnight, but we were out of the Castro at about 10pm since Josie gets up very very early for work. Courtney, who was ready to run amok all night was highly disappointed.
There was a guy in front of us in line at the Castro donation gate. I don't know *what* he was supposed to be dressed as, but he had a large plastic *toy* automatic rifle. He obviously wasn't dressed as a bright person since the officer at the gate had to say something like "Sorry, Buddy, I don't think so" twice before translating it into English: NO!

Um...this is the one at 24th and Potrero in San Francisco. It was built (new building) within the past decade...I think it's about five years old. Sometimes I still forget it's there and forget to go to it.
IT HAS IT'S OWN PARKING LOT
that is it's real beauty.
