having downloaded a couple of tracks ...i was wondering what others think of "Hymie's Basement"? yes it's more lo-fi hip hop stuff, but it is pleasing to my ears....

i think it's very much fog and why?'s MO: a couple of genius tracks that are incredibly effective (21st century pop song, Lightning Bolts and Man Hands, the 2nd track) and a couple of middling tracks and some definite throwaways. I think it's the closest that Why? has gotten to something really great in the way of indie rock, though, as compared to his recent LP and EP.

Lex, though, overall is really doing some good stuff right now. Very impressed with that label.

william, be aware that there is a lot of hate towards the anticon posse here on ilm. i have the cd, but haven't heard it yet. which tracks should i start out with?

What I wrote about it in September (you'll have to scroll down a bit but it is there). Also reviewed by me in new Uncut.

wow marcello, ta for link. very interesting re Ian MacDonald. i used to see him wandering round Wotton-u-edge (tis a small town) and never knew who he was until mojo printed his obit/picture. then all became clear. was a weird feeling ...

Hymie's Basement? I found a mint copy of a William Shatner record there.

It has a really nice pop sensability that a lot of Alt/indie hiphop lacks, I'm liking it a lot..
