Get yr heartfelt tributes ready because from now on The Righteous Brothers will have to be billed as The Righteous Brother.

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 6 November 2003 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

... but not to worry: it was the guy responsible for singing the worst song ever written, "Unchained Melody", not the guy who sang the best song ever written, "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'"

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 6 November 2003 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

"You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" is a pale and shabby xerox of the best song ever written, "Baby I Need Your Loving."

(nb: I don't actually believe "Baby I Need Your Loving" is the best song ever written, but it was ripped off something chronic)

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 November 2003 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't actually think "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" IS the best song ever written but the post reads better and has a certain pleasing symmetry if I pretend it is. "Unchained Melody" is, however, the worst song ever written.

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 6 November 2003 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Worse than "Fields Of Gold"?

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 November 2003 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 6 November 2003 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

"all you good good people" by embrace is worse than "unchained melody" ( i don't like unchained melody, but still...)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 6 November 2003 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

( i don't like unchained melody, but still...)

Unfortunately everybody else in the world does and there are more of them being born everyday

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 6 November 2003 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

haha one born every minute. Oasis "Wonderwall" and er that other one that was even worse... (googles) "don't look back in anger" urgh oh god that was much, much worse as well. actually i think "don't look back in anger" is the real worst song in the world ever.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 6 November 2003 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

It's not even the worst Oasis song.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 November 2003 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i must admit i haven't heard much of their more recent gloop. Which one is worse than "don't look back in anger"?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 6 November 2003 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Nearly all of them.

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 November 2003 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

The one w/ Johny Depp wasn't very good

Bringing You Up-to-Date News On Dead Guys

Sammy Davis Jr - Still Dead.

Tammy Wynette - Still Dead.
"I'm not dead yet. Shut up, bitch!"

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 6 November 2003 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Johnny Cash - "Say, what sonofabitch gets away with callin' my Tammy a GUY?"
June - "Hey Johnny, keep your eyes off Patsy Cline or I will make YOU hurt!"
Johnny - "Yes honey."

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 6 November 2003 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

"You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling" is one of the greatest songs ever written, but "Unchained Melody" doesn't deserve the hate here. I really like the part where one Righteous Brother (Medley? Hatfield? McCoy?) does that weird swoop with his voice towards the end. It sounds kind of sad and demonic at the same time.

David A. (Davant), Thursday, 6 November 2003 18:59 (twenty-one years ago)

"Unchained Melody" is a bona fide classic. I only wish I'd never heard Bono massacre it.

o. nate (onate), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I detest that song on the basis of never having been asked to dance to it at the Tennis Club discos.

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Agreed (re: Bono).

David A. (Davant), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Pretty boy.

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:12 (twenty-one years ago)

He's lost that livin' feeling!

HA!

(can't believe I'm the first person to post that)

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder if he said "oh, my heart" just before he expired?

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 6 November 2003 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

dead death metal rockers to thread!

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 6 November 2003 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Are there any left, other than Rob Zombie and Al Jourgensen?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Thursday, 6 November 2003 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

He's lost that livin' feeling!
HA!

(can't believe I'm the first person to post that)

-- Phil Freeman (newyorkisno...), November 6th, 2003.

Words cannot adequately explained how infuriated I am to have missed this opportunity to use this line for a cheap laugh at a dead guy's expense. I'm slipping up.

Dadaismus (Dada), Sunday, 9 November 2003 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I am also suitably in awe at this quip.

Ferg (Ferg), Sunday, 9 November 2003 17:35 (twenty-one years ago)

What? Wonderwall is much better than all of this ... talk! I'm going to snub this conversation. Look you've been snub. Ha!

Didn't the other Righteous Brother die back in the early Nineties?
