Inspired by, er, my own question on the Covering German bands thread about Trio and the Arison ad. I'm pretty sure Trio did neither the Ariston or Sakata ads, but...

Who's done this? Who's been sufficiently tempted by large amounts of green to re-record one of their own tunes with lyrics promoting a product or service?

I hope I don't kill this thread imediately by saying the three that came into my head:

Madness - "Colgate Blue Minty Gel" (Baggy Trousers)
Shed Seven - "At The Link It's Easy" (Speakeasy)
Adam Ant - "Save The Gorillas" (Stand And Deliver)

Devo! 'Whip It' (swiffer)

SpeakEasy - Shed Seven (at the link)
Blue Monday - New Order (Sunkist)

xpost, can't be bothered to retype...

Apparently Barney Sumner couldn't stop laughing while New Order were recording it, so Peter Hook had to hold up a sign bearing the message - "$100,000". My recollection of this is not totally accurate.

true. and then on the back of that there was the legendary coversation between rob gretton and bernard as recounted by wilson in
'rock family trees' -

rob (incandesecent with fury) : DO YOU WANT A YACHT ?!!
bernard : yes !
rob : are you prepared to do what it TAKES to GET yacht ?
bernard : ...NO !

the original SUNKIST ad is featured in the fantastic morley-directed
'neworderstory'.

then of course they did AM.EX with blue monday.
