I'm going to see The Distillers at Nottingham Rock City next Saturday.

I'm driving up from South Wales witth two friends and none of us has ever been to a gig there before.

What's it like? Very good name bodes well.

Also, anyone know any cheap hotels/hostels within walking distance of it?

i saw spiritualized there once. its ok as a venue, nothing great, but, be warned, i think it will turn into a nasty indierock club afterwards, kind of like the leadmill in sheffield.

I live about 5-10 minutes walk from it. Only been once, saw The Streets, Blackalicious and Blak Twang last year. S'OK I guess. They get quite big people to play.

Not sure about hostels. Plenty of hotels around the city centre, including one next door to Rock City, dunno how much any of them cost because, well, I live here so I don't need them.

Great it's still there. I saw the Smiths there back in '84 or so.

Probably no comparison with the current version, though.

We stayed at the Bentinck Hotel for the Rapture gig earlier in the year, it wasn't bad and quite cheap.
