Just for the lines : "You can tell your dog to bite my leg, Or tell your
brother Cliff whose fist can tell my lip, He never really liked me anyway"

The combination of action to result via an intermediary. The rest is admittedly shite...

Would it be enough to just say something for Billy Ray?

Arguably one of the most recognisable mullet icons of our time.
And am I alone in thinking he looks AND sounds like a younger brother of Bill Clinton?

Don't play that song, that achy breaky song.

No way it may be defended at all.

I remember seeing somnething on the news when it was a big hit. There was a girl who was confined to a wheelchair who said she was going to learn to walk so she could do the Achy Breaky. Of course, she must have also had lead poisoning if her only motivation for walking was doing the Achy Breaky.

My enjoyment of this song is seriously hindered because I am unable to discern the identity of the man in danger of being killed by the pernicious "exploding heart". I assume the song relies on a visual cue during the performance - a photograph, perhaps, which Mr. Cyrus points to at the end of the chorus? Without this information, I'm afraid there's very little I, or law enforcement, can do.

I like his performance of this chune on Top of the Pops, where he seemed to be really scared of the TV cameras, then during the instrumental break decided to break the tension by attempting to do a Scottish jig for about 7.3 seconds!!!!!!

Old Fart!!! (oldfart_sd), Monday, 10 November 2003 15:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Well it is only 2 chords (if I remember correctly). So that's saying something ESPECIALLY because it was a hit.
Very few 2 chord songs out there in rock & country. Granted I'm not judging the "quality" of the song thoguh.

Greatest marketing strategy ever.

CEO buys 1 million copies --> song rockets up charts --> people jump on bandwagon ("WHO IS THIS MASKED MAN BILLY RAY CYRUS???") --> label has already sold all the copies to one person so they cannot meet demand for MORE BILLY RAY! --> CEO sells 1 million copies back to record label at a profit

Achey Breaky Heart got into my head while I was doing my GCSE exams. I loathed it with all my being, but decided that the only way to get it out of my head was to buy it and play it till it died.

The next time this happened with a song, it was Ed's Babe by The Fall - I didn't like this either, it having been the only song played by John Peel at the weekend that I really hadn't liked, because it just sounded shit.

Unfortunately for my wallet, long-suffering frenz and girlfrenz, neighbours, random people on the street, it never died, and now as a human being I am just a sick emaciated spiritless appendage to the luminous glory that is The Fall's back catalogue.

Thanks Billy Ray.
