i've a vague feeling this has been asked before, but has there ever been a hiphop cover where the vocals were translated 'musically' ie. (using instruments, not voices)? i think this might happen quite a bit on midi files/cellphone rings..

what do you mean by a "hip hop cover"? like, not an actual sample, but a song where the musicians replay the part of the original song? dr. dre style?

well i mean everything could be sampled/recreated/reproduced as is, except for the actually rapping which would be 'covered' using a sax or a gameboy or an ondes martenot or a dsp filter etc
