They don't sound quite as ridiculous as "Sarrusaphone players."

It's harder for them to drop their instrument than for the other players in the marching band.

Trevor is a great composer, a fun musician and a great guy.

I played Sousaphone
in my junior high school band.
It was stark-ass white.

You crawl up in it,
it encircles you all round.
Then you start to blow.

Danny Gardner threw
Halloween candy into
my Sousaphone bell;

when I threw some back
I got busted by the sub,
got a referral.

I was a sousaphone player for my high school marching band; mine was silver, quite nice-looking though heavy. I made all-state band on tuba my senior year and very nearly went to conservatory to study tuba. So there!!! And I made a marching band arrangement for "Wit Dre Day"...

Wot is a sousaphone anyway!??!?! Is it some sort of "special" tuba for people called Susan!?!?!?!?

Time to spill the beans on a shameful, shameful fact: usually, tuba (and sousaphone) usually goes to the not that bright kid who looks like he can carry the thing. This is not me talking, mind you, but band directors everywhere. Conversely, French Horn goes to the smart kids.

Sousaphone was a marching instrument developed by JP Sousa to use as a tuba. It's much easier to carry while marching than a tuba.

hey yo dominique
fuck you,* I played french horn too!
and first chair trombone!

*said in that friendly ho-ho sort of way, not in anger

See I knew that was gonna piss people off - as well it should. I never understood why it always seemed to be big football guys on tuba and small elf girls on flute. I mean, I understand small elf girls probably can't carry tubas around, but what happens is you end up with a perpetually small circle of tuba players who are actually good musicians.

Anyway, I'm sure you are a smart sousaphone/horn/tbone playing fool, Haikunym.

actually, though,
I am dumb as two dumb rocks.
plus, I am an elf.

It is the loudest bass that you don't have to plug in.

haha nice pic of eric! I once whipped his ass in a hoops game...for about five minutes. then he schooled me all over the place.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 12 November 2003 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha. I've never seen Eric play hoops but he's got the height advantage at least.

I'm the worst basketball player ever.

He makes killer chicken wings.

My brother played one in high school. He's dead now.
