Vomit Launch - discuss or dismiss?

I had really only heard "Swelling Admiration" which led me to think Vomit Launch was a Salvation Army Store version of Romeo Void..

But I recently listened to a bit more (and paid attention this time) .. and I'm liking them in a For Against vein. And they do a pretty cool cover of "Heart of Darkness" - can't place it, but sounding very postpunk..

Anyone know anything about them? I just stumbled across them once .. never heard much discussion ...

There was some late single of theirs that I ended up hearing back in 1993 or so, I gather they had just broken up. Seem to remember e-mailing one of the bandmembers...

They were pretty alreet as far as I'm concerned. They "matured" from a jokey insult/scatological take to a prettier, almost Bats-like pop band. It's been eons since I've played their stuff, but I recall the "Exiled Sandwich" and "Dogeared" full-lengths being worthwhile. And yes, Larry Crane was in the band, though he was their bassist not drummer.

I mostly thought it was cool that a band from Chico, CA (just down the road from where I grew up) was on TeenBeat.

I like the name Chico, CA. It reminds me not to be discouraged.

"Sorority girl! Sorority bitch! You call each other sisters! The only thing that you all share is boys and V.D. blisters!" Also loved their covers of "Every Pretty Girl" and "Block of Wood"...

larry was the bass player, i believe. alright band -- not great, but good overall in the jokes and pop it created.

Not Even Pretty is so classic. I mail ordered the CD from Teenbeat in 1998 when I was 22. Probably one of the first things I mail ordered. I got that and the No Trend Teen Love CD. Absolute no chance of finding either of those in Berkshire in the 90s.
