Music in Brett Easton Ellis books

Inspired by the Huey Lewis thread (Huey Lewis: The Joke Nobody Got), how's about one exploring the music referenced/ corrupted/ slaughtered in Brett Easton Ellis's novels?

In particular, anyone know anything aboutthe significance of the Wings song that's employed to trigger the destruction of the aeroplane towards the end of Glamorama?

Or, anyone wish to rhapsodise at extraordinary length about Against All Odds by Mr Collins?

Against All Odds is nothing without the video. The seminal synergy of the film clips with the dazzling talent of P-Daddy Collins' vocal perfomance elicits the devastating crescendo of emotion often associated with greek tragedy and pro-sports. Jeff Bridges as Collins' doppleganger, failing with his seduction of Rachel Ward, is a presentation of folding multiple levels onto one another by finding the creases of their similarities, is a dynamic that few short of Fellini and Truffaut have mastered with a sympathetic eye and ear for the audience. The cavorting on the sand. We know Phil wants to be there. He has been there. Rachel Ward was his. The grisled, bearding face of Jeff Bridges, weathered with anger and frustration. Wards' tanned body and impossible breasts cut against Phil's ruptured heart vocal stylings. They were one with the tropic of cancer sun! But now she's left him, and he may never win her back. "Against the odds. Indeed.

I like the bit in American Psycho where Bateman says "Mick Jagger...yeah I know who he is...'just another night, just another night...'"

How about in Rules of Attraction where "the new Talking Heads record" is playing everywhere anybody goes?

((How about in Rules of Attraction where "the new Talking Heads record" is playing everywhere anybody goes?))

Same in American Psycho. It's mention about 3 times in the first 60 pages.

I like how Bono is the devil in 'American Psycho'

Bono is the devil in real life.

He really is the most evil man in the world. Edge is a dick as well.

"bearding" must be one of the best words I've ever heard!

five years pass...

not quite the thread description, but does anyone know who this version of Colors is by or where it can be found from the Rules of Attraction splitscreen scene, which I still think is pretty kickass so you can all just stfu.
