Team is Redrum.

Chris Ott (Chris Ott), Thursday, 13 November 2003 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i think it's a terrible cover, rather lifeless (apart from Stefani's usual pre-Britney 'mmmmrrwwwwuuurrr's punctuating every other line) lacklustre and pointless effort from a band who oughta know better. the original dwarfs all!

What does that mean?

Mr. Snrub, Thursday, 13 November 2003 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

i think meat is murder

Felcher (Felcher), Thursday, 13 November 2003 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

ha - I thought he was saying it was a murder inc. production

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 13 November 2003 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Which "It's My Life" is this?

If you are speaking of the Dr. Alban song, making a better cover version probably doesn't take a lot of effort. If you are speaking of the Talk Talk classic, then, NEVER!

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Thursday, 13 November 2003 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

...or the Animals.

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Thursday, 13 November 2003 21:09 (twenty-one years ago)

make sure you've heard both mixes...the alternative mix has lotsa guitars and the pop mix is all smoothed out.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 13 November 2003 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)

...or the Animals.

or bon jovi.

fact checking cuz, Thursday, 13 November 2003 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Those Animals or Bon Jovi ones aren't any good anyway. Talk Talk's is the one and only classic with that title. :)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Thursday, 13 November 2003 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

That doesn't work though. "Meat" backwards is "taem."

Chris Ott so wants to fuck me.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 14 November 2003 00:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i saw the video for it today, and it made me very angry.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 14 November 2003 01:28 (twenty-one years ago)

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 14 November 2003 01:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Valium?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 14 November 2003 01:32 (twenty-one years ago)

oh come on alex...with those childproof caps? surely they must induce a bit of spittle flecked fire-honoring, no?

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 14 November 2003 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously. I just found it reprehensible. Is nothing sacred?I can only hope that Hollis and Co. saw some beefy greenery as a result.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 14 November 2003 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

"ME BREAK WITH HAMMER! JAZ NO LIKE COMPLICATED CAP EITHER! KILLING JOKE FAN RISE UP AND BREAK STOOPID BOTTLE NOW! SMAAASH!"

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 14 November 2003 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Hahaha don't TAINT my music with your goddamn royalties! It's SACRED!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 14 November 2003 01:36 (twenty-one years ago)

That's it......time for you to be whalloped like the flea-bitten orangutan you are, Alex you name-shamer! PREPARE FOR PUGILISM!

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 14 November 2003 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Oooooh HE AIN'T PRETTY NO MORE.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 14 November 2003 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Hm I haven't heard the original, but think this version is great and downloaded it right away. Also, Gwen looks very much like Madonna circa "Express Yourself" in the video, and Tony looks really cute with his hair like that. I think I would feel the same way if I was 13

Vic (Vic), Friday, 14 November 2003 02:07 (twenty-one years ago)

You've never heard the original???? How old are you, Vic?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 14 November 2003 02:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Watch OUT Vic! ALEX will send kick-boxing MONKEYS after you!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 14 November 2003 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't like the production on this much. It's good, though. I seriously think the Liquid People remix is the definitive version of the song.

Sonny A. (Keiko), Friday, 14 November 2003 02:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm kind of horrified by this cover because they somehow have made it sound a lot like the song 'Angel in my Pocket' by the late 80s Canpop group, One 2 One. Cognitive dissonance is the end result.

Kim (Kim), Friday, 14 November 2003 03:48 (twenty-one years ago)

[i'm old enough to have heard it but was trapped in another musical world in the 80s, far away from pop radio]

Vic (Vic), Friday, 14 November 2003 03:53 (twenty-one years ago)

which one of you is the monkey?

Dave M. (rotten03), Friday, 14 November 2003 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

WE BOTH ARE! IT'S A MONKEY KICKBOXING FITE! (It's like a monkey knife fite with less torn ears.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 14 November 2003 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

oh. i thought it was a monkey and a very short man. er, continue.

Roddy McDowell's looking CLASSSSSY.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 14 November 2003 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I know, that ascot is simply the shit!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 14 November 2003 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Truly an underused fashion accessory.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 14 November 2003 04:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah it's better but I still wasn't THAT moved. The video is funny though (and, as fascinated as I am by Mark Hollis's mug, better than the original). I'm sad to hear Gwen's going solo. Like Debbie Harry, she's even cooler when surrounded my amiable dudes.
