Battle of the anti-Pastoriuses! Who is the more limited bass player?

I saw U2 once and Edge kept giving Clayton evil looks, Clayton just had that "whuh?" confused look. Funniest bit was the four-note bass intro to "Red Hill Mining Town", two notes of which were wrong.

Yeah, at least Tom Araya has the excuse of needing to concentrate on singing!

Perhaps they're both crypto-virtuosi? Given that there's actually no room in the pop-rock of U2 or the thrash metal of Slayer for delicate, extended curlicues of upper-register basswork, they may well save the jaw-droppingly noodly jazzwank for when they're chilling out at home.

does Tom Araya have a spoon collection?

(also, was Clayton's constant ramblings about spoons a subtle reference to the fact that he's the only U2 member known to have had drug issues?)

anyhow, Clayton wins. Easily my favorite U2 guy (ok except when they did the Discoteque video and the Edge, in leather, was clearly the only guy getting into it).

that should be "constant ramblings about spoons in that Simpsons epsiode".

tom would never make fun of himself on the simpsons. he would read the script and be confused and not get it. the slayer guys who arnt lombardo are pretty humourless.

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Saturday, 15 November 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

do you really think so Chaki? I though they had good senses of humor! Then again, I guess the only real footage i've seen of them "hanging out" was on that unreleased We Sold Our Soul For Rock and Roll documentary of the Ozzfest. There is a cool interview segment with Slayer at Alcatraz!! The guys seem pretty mellow and are cracking jokes, etc. Also, there is some cool concert footage where, in the middle of some song, Araya goes to spit, but the spit lands on the black T-shirt he's wearing. So there is this big white globule of spit really obviously sitting there on his shirt. He notices it and starts cracking up in the middle of the song. so hey he showed me he could laugh at himself...

Broheems (diamond), Saturday, 15 November 2003 21:34 (twenty-two years ago)

oh maybe im wrong. i guess their lyics are pretty funny.

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Saturday, 15 November 2003 21:38 (twenty-two years ago)

and that picture on the back of south of heaven is pretty silly.
