Ian Dury's "Wake Up and Make Love to Me" is to the point with it's reference to waking up and finding himself with "a gift for womankind".

My fave right now though is "5 O'clock in the Morning" by Godley and Creme. So these guys sucked in some ways, but there 3LP boxset "Consequences" that they released upon leaving 10cc has it's moments. There's even a web site devoted to the project called "Blint's Attic".

Back to "5 O'clock ..", there's this high pitched piercing noise, which drops down into bird song (big in New Zealand). Then it's 6 o'clock, 8 o'clock,.. all presented in morning has broken plaintiff singer/songwriter piano whine, until a cuckoo clock announces 10 o'clock and Peter Cook's entrance. From that point on Cook narrates 'tween music experiments, providing this drunk continuity to the stuff G and C present over the remaining 2 1/2 LPs, with Cook doing 4 voices.

Godley and Creme have admitted they were doing lots of drugs and staying up all night making noises in their precious studio, coinciding with Cook drunk but at his best at about 10 o'clock each day, meaning they could all get some work done on the project for a couple of hours before one of them flaked out.

The 3LP set came out in '77, just in time for the punk backlash against prog. rock. Interestingly, Cook had turned down McLaren's offer of a part in "The Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle" to work on the Godley/Creme project.

Twilight Singers - Thats Just How That Bids Songs. I'm listening to it right now actually. This album may be only half-baked, but I've found it a great crossover step for indie kids like myself into R&B.

chorus to serge gainsbourg's "lemon incest" = "le morning sex" (sung by a child in style sebastian of belle and sebastian ie the original TV prog themetune not the alleged fey-twee uberghosts of this entire board)

However I am not sure if it should be put to this particular use.

I rather like the bit in the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion song "Blues X Man" that goes: "she says 'wake up daddy, it's time for the morning ride!'". It's just so damn enthusiastic, ya know?
