I'm liking Danii Minogue right now and the pain hurts. What's your's?

cs appleby, Monday, 17 November 2003 09:42 (twenty-one years ago)

guilt in enjoying music is for suckers

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 17 November 2003 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Let me rephrase this because "guilt in enjoying music is for suckers" is true. "What music do you THINK you hate but find yourself liking it?" is a better beginning. Thanks.

A text2speech generator reading the Hip Hop taken to new levels thread.

Øystein H-O (Øystein H-O), Monday, 17 November 2003 10:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm liking Danii Minogue right now and the pain hurts.

It shouldn't. It's the best album this year by some distance in my book. I'm currently feeling guilty about really liking the new Aqualung album because deep down I know it's just highly accomplished crap from someone who may have listened to "Pyramid Song" too many times, but it's nice nonetheless.

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 17 November 2003 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

If you consider Fountains of Wayne a guilty pleasure, which I don't, then Fountains of Wayne. But also St Anger, The Darkness, and I admit to downloading that Macho Man Randy Savage song just for laughs / historic consistency (he was my favorite wrestler)

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 17 November 2003 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

husker du and black flag. *sigh* i mean REALLY, guilty?

nathalie (nathalie), Monday, 17 November 2003 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

The Cult. The pleasure is guilty because if anyone saw me listening to it they'd see my snarly face and air-guitar chops and then I'd be embarassed. I'm not actually 'guilty' about it though, cos it's fucking ace.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 17 November 2003 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

hey nath, why feel guilty about listening to the Huskers and the Flag? True I probably haven't played any of their records for the best part of 15 years, but then again I never got rid of 'em...

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 17 November 2003 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha i was just kidding! guilty pleasure? that's so STOOPID. :-)

nathalie (nathalie), Monday, 17 November 2003 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Boyz II Men

Nick H, Monday, 17 November 2003 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Overwhelming Colorfast

o. nate (onate), Monday, 17 November 2003 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I like playing air drums to Journey Greatest Hits with headphones on at the moment, which I don't feel guilty about in the slightest but I reckon I'd be mortified if anyone caught me in the act.

udu wudu (udu wudu), Monday, 17 November 2003 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

GENIUS.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 17 November 2003 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I have zero guilt! But my friends give me shit when they get in my car and I'm blasting ZZTop's Afterburner. Actually, they'll make it through "Sleeping Bag" with me (barely), but I lose them sometime during "Stages." Their loss. Besides, it's my car, fools.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Monday, 17 November 2003 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

For me a guilty pleasure is a record than one part of my brain says it sucks but another part of my brain still wants to listen to it.

o. nate (onate), Monday, 17 November 2003 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

This weekend the people at my table attempted to making me feel guilt for playing Portishead on a jukebox in a bar.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 17 November 2003 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm now listening to Misplaced Childhood by Marillion. And thoroughly enjoying the bits when Fish doesn't sing. And even some of the bits when he does.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 17 November 2003 21:41 (twenty-one years ago)

My wife bought R Kelly's Chocolate Factory a couple of months ago and I was like "eeeww. urkk!" I now play it a lot.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Monday, 17 November 2003 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Probably "Get Low" by Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz. It's entirely indefensible, but I think it's hilarious and the production's great.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 17 November 2003 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

"This weekend the people at my table attempted to making me feel guilt for playing Portishead on a jukebox in a bar."
and rightly so. unless you're in the midst of a heartbreak, that kind of music is simply not suited for a bar.

Felcher (Felcher), Monday, 17 November 2003 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Neil OTM about Øystein's guilty pleasure being genius :-)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 17 November 2003 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Orchestral instrumental versions of Burt Bacharach songs.

damian_nz (damian_nz), Monday, 17 November 2003 22:12 (twenty-one years ago)

For me a guilty pleasure is a record than one part of my brain says it sucks but another part of my brain still wants to listen to it.

OTM

Right now: "In Pursuit Of Happiness", The Divine Comedy.

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Monday, 17 November 2003 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I really feel like i shouldnt like the new shins, but i keep finding myself humming bits of it. but one half of my brain still swears that it has no hooks.

Felcher (Felcher), Monday, 17 November 2003 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

80's Italo-disco:

Finzi Contini, Valerie Dore, etc. I just love it.

daavid, Monday, 17 November 2003 22:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Now on "Ride On Time" by Black Box. She was sexy till she opened her mouth.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 17 November 2003 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

radiohead "ok computer" and the people in the room next to me talking very loudly...

marcg (marcg), Monday, 17 November 2003 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

guilt is for old women who don't appreciate my copy of the first rose tattoo album.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Monday, 17 November 2003 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

The New Radicals' album.

ddrake, Tuesday, 18 November 2003 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I kind of am with Daavid. Some 80s Italo disco, well, it sucks musically of course, but still kewl to listen to.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 00:08 (twenty-one years ago)

"slide it in" by whitesnake.

sean marvin (williamtell), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 02:24 (twenty-one years ago)

marcg - as in, the sound of both at the same time combined together into one sonic thing? (i love it when ambient music has extended samples of multiple overlapping conversations...)

damian_nz (damian_nz), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 03:06 (twenty-one years ago)

umm...while I'll defend Limp Bizkit as artists blah blah blah. I do feel a bit embarassed when something pisses me off, I go home, turn Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water high and BE Fred Durst for a while - singing along, doing that chicken on steroids armflap deal, high stepping around the apartment, staring down imaginary sexy folx and telling my record collection that I'm feeling the love during the instrumental sections.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 03:52 (twenty-one years ago)

and my stage presence has improved greatly since I accidently caught their live special on MTV last week.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

guilt is for old women who don't appreciate my copy of the first rose tattoo album.

Certainly a big number since women are physically and mentally incapable of appreciating Rose Tattoo.

George Smith, Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Termites on dinner plates and binmen in houses,

These are a few of my favorite things...

Antmusic78 (Antmusic78), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 05:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Certainly a big number since women are physically and mentally incapable of appreciating Rose Tattoo.

too true. probably rose tattoo's only similarity to magma.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 07:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Someone feels weird about loving the Cult? F-U!! Love is one the greatest and polarizing albums ever! Ever! Ever!

CS appleby, Tuesday, 18 November 2003 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I said I didn't feel weird about listening to The Cult - I saifd I'd feel like a twat if anyone caught me gurning and doing airguitar chops to them.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 09:40 (twenty-one years ago)

"slide it in" by whitesnake.

Gah! This album contains "Slow'n'Easy", does it not? THAT'S A FUCKIN' CLASSIC, MAN!!! Don't be put off by apologists in Darkness t-shirts and ironic truckercaps. Whitesnake had their moments (and not all of them were embarassing).

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 18 November 2003 22:16 (twenty-one years ago)

three years pass...

Atom and his package

i think everyone feels silly listening to SOME things

alex, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 11:21 (eighteen years ago)

Speaking of Atom

"I own the worst records of all time [...] they make me laugh, they make me cry, for owning the voice of the voiceless I deserve to die"

alex, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 11:26 (eighteen years ago)

i think everyone feels silly listening to SOME things

well worded, this. really think so.

then again,as per calling this thread from now on "your cuurent silly pleasure listening" -- mhm, has a weird ring to it, no?
