The Prodigy - The Fat of the Land is the best techno album ever made.

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 03:45 (twenty-one years ago)

If you have some money go and purchase "Orbital 2" by Orbital. Get lost in it.

Savin All My Love 4 u (Savin 4ll my (heart) 4u), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 06:38 (twenty-one years ago)

look for stuff by mike ink (have just rediscovered "R.E.S.P.E.C.T" by love inc recently - absolute belter of a tune), paperclip people, recloose, ricardo villablobos, plastikman (although the new album, closer, is less techno in the conventional sense than ever), also recently unearthed a copy of the fourth sign by cj bolland on r&s records, "camargue" has to be one of the most wonderful records ever made. as ever, keep an eye out for isolee (especially "brazil.com" - best techno record in recent memory), the kompakt boys, grab yourself a copy of perlon's superlongevity 3 compilation and enjoy yourself!!!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, and whoever made the comment above my previous list is a wally

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Great recommendations there, Dave. "R.E.S.P.E.C.T." is definitely one of the best house tracks ever, but you should try to find the original version, the album remix isn't nearly as good. Paperclip People is another fine recommendation, the best thing Carl Craig has done besides "Programmed". CJ Bolland also has a nice, drum'n'bassy LP called "Electronic Highway" which worth a listen.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

and matthew dear is also a guy worth looking out for, not to mention both button down mind of dan bell mix cds

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

cheers tuomas - the original mix is exactly the one i was talking about, though there is quite a decent looped planetary assault systems mix - and if you want to go back a while you can always get yourself a stack of underground resistance stuff like the "riot" ep, "seawolf" etc...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Good call on Seawolf Dave!

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Dave Stelfox rules for the 'Camargue' mention - the 'Summer' mix is especially great...also for Bolland SEARCH 'The Prophet', 'The Analogue Theatre', 'Horsepower', 'Tower Of Nefali (or whatever it was called off 'Electronic Highway')

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 11:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Flux Trax / Flux Trax 2

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

ronan also rules for his mention of DJ Hell's My Definition Of House Music, but it really has to be the Resistance D mix, not the original. Also on this note, I dug out a copy of Transform by Transformations on Rising High Records when i went back to my dad's (it was mine, not his) and had forgotten how brilliant this record is...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

i have just realised that none of this is "Hardcore, Psy-trance, Hard Trance etc" as asked for... though some of it is either early trance or prefigures trance in some way...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 11:16 (twenty-one years ago)

and obviously ronan is a further geezer for stardancer mention

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)
