Most similar start to an album...

If you hear a CD that starts with "Beetlebum" and is followed by "Song 2", you will have to wait until track 3 to find out is you are listening to Blur's greatest hits album, or "Blur" the selftitled one.

Any more? Any that go further than two tracks?

How about The Dandy Warhols ...Come Down and the BJM's Give It Back?

Two albums by two different artists that start with an identical track!

The radio static on the Kinks "Around the Dial" (which begins Give the People What They Want) sounds a hell of a lot like the Flaming Lips "Turn it On" (first track on Transmissions...)

Elastica's first record starts off just like a Wire album (also ends like one and resembles it in the middle as well).

Not sure this counts, but the opening note of Cheap Trick's All Shook Up is this closing note of Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Oooh, the audacity. Funny how one remains a classic and the other...well.

The Beatles' blue double compilation album starts with "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band" and "With a Little Help From My Friends" segued together, followed by "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds". Exactly like the "Sgt. Pepper" album does.

Roxy Music's Roxy Music, The Early Years and The Thrill of it All start with "Remake/Remodel," "Ladytron," and "If There Is Something." If you consider the fact that the original UK pressing of the debut album did not contain "Virginia Plain," "2HB" would make four identical successive tracks on three different releases.

Mmmmm.

That last one is a live album, yeah? But I take nothing away from you....

Yeah, that Beatles album IS best left consigned to the dustheap.

No, it's a boxed set.

(I'm really surprised Ned didn't beat me to that one!)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 18:08 (twenty-two years ago)

The Byrds "Highlights" album is quite similar to their "Mr Tambourine Man" album. In fact, they are completely identical, track by track, start to finish.

Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues" and "Bringing It All Back Home" has several quite obvious similarities. :-)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Thursday, 20 November 2003 01:08 (twenty-two years ago)

And, yes, Nick Lowe's "Jesus Of Cool" and "Pure Pop For Now People" too.

My blue album starts with Strawberry Fields & Penny Lane. Perhaps the CD version is different from the record.

billstevejim, Thursday, 20 November 2003 03:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know if this counts, but Beatles For Sale and Beatles '65 have identical Side A's.
