Quite frankly I am gutted Kate never covered "Hasta Manana Monsieur". In return Sparks could SO do "Running Up That Hill".

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

You heared "We are the Clash" ?

By Sparks, that is...

Wowzer! Sarah is a genius!

The Clash thing has been the talk of the Sparks list for a couple of weeks now -- there has been much approval, though I have yet to hear it myself.

I now see that they are ultimately reciprocal. I would love for Kate to be flouncing about like a ponce in a leotard with double bass whilst your man Mael the Glummer stood looking murderous in the background.

WAS BABOOSHKA ABOUT RON MAEL!?

Hope I got the right Mael, tharr.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Heck, "Coffee Homeground" is practically a lost Sparks song.

This thread title explains so much to me, now if there was a way to fit Charles Mingus into the equation and I would be a good step towards understanding my tastes.

Uncut magazine, this month, clash tribute volume two.

Sadly Ned this was only observed by an acquaintance of mine so I cannot take full credit for what is obviously an earth-shaking idea and not the result of utter slacking before I knock off for the day eh? :)

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I PREFER GIVING YOU THE CREDIT. I know you and not this 'acquaintance' of whom you speak and therefore you're cooler. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

This topic better be explored more, you sordid spelunkers; c'mon!

Øystein H-O (Øystein H-O), Wednesday, 19 November 2003 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

This is Spam Mael

You should think about buying a Soft Cell video, har.

To be honest I am not sure if I have much to say on this. It's just a startlingly obvious fakkt.

Howard Jones would have been better* on TOTP2 last night if he'd worn a leotard.

FSVO "better", obv.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 20 November 2003 10:34 (twenty-one years ago)

bring back chainy bloke...

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 20 November 2003 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

What, the ghost of Christmas past!?

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 20 November 2003 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Incidentally, does anyone here happen to know whether there's any truth in the (very, very, very) old rumour that Howard Jones was closely related to (a cousin of, maybe?) Roy, Martin and Paul Jones, who (I believe) also came from High Wycombe and were the vocalist / keyboard player, guitarist and drummer respectively in Killing Joke protegees Red Beat?
