I was hesitant posting this here, but seeing as people will put up their shitty mixtapes, I suppose their might be a place for it. If not, could a moderator delete?

Anyway

At the Tote from 9pm:

STYLAGA (my band)
The Treetops
Youth Group

I think it's eight dollars, of which I wouldn't pay half to see any or indeed all of those bands, but if you want to see me fucking up and/or wearing lots of leather, come!

Sasha (sgh), Thursday, 20 November 2003 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

YOU'RE in stylaga? what's that like?

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 20 November 2003 01:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll explain over a beer.

As long as you pay.

Actually, I doubt you really want to know.

Sasha (sgh), Thursday, 20 November 2003 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Go see Youth Group, they're fab in spite of sharing management with The Vines.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 20 November 2003 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)

the vines management dudes are very lovely people (and impressively good at what they do) despite actually managing the vines. youth group kick ass. don't ask me about treet0ps

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 20 November 2003 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sure they are lovely, Jim, and I don't doubt their abilities - in fact, they've done rather well with The fairly talentfree Vines, let's face it, so imagine what they could achieve with an actual really aces band like Youth Group.

Thinking about it, YG supported The Vines on their US tour this year - did any of you septics see 'em?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 20 November 2003 02:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i've unfortunately never seen YG live, so i may come along. i adore their album.

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 20 November 2003 02:18 (twenty-one years ago)

hey Jim, did you play that show the other month even though prol-tung pulled out?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 20 November 2003 02:21 (twenty-one years ago)

y'know i don't remember which one that was.. i remember us turning down a couple so we probably didn't. we decided to take a break from playing live because it starting to get unenjoyable..

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 20 November 2003 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

just wondering. i saw tugboat mentioned on the prol-tung website and suddenly realised that was, like, you and stuff.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 20 November 2003 02:26 (twenty-one years ago)

it was a shame as i'd been keen to see them

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 20 November 2003 02:32 (twenty-one years ago)

yo Sasha, hope you got yr voice back! :)

OCP (OCP), Thursday, 20 November 2003 06:46 (twenty-one years ago)

if scobes turns up on ILx i'm leaving

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 20 November 2003 06:47 (twenty-one years ago)

P.S. Treetops are dope. I don't know what Jim is on...

OCP (OCP), Thursday, 20 November 2003 06:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm on medication that makes me want to tear my ears off every time i hear derivative sub-britpop plod-u-like

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 20 November 2003 06:51 (twenty-one years ago)

ouch.

OCP (OCP), Thursday, 20 November 2003 08:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Treetops are dopes did you say?

steve, Thursday, 20 November 2003 08:31 (twenty-one years ago)

OCP (OCP), Thursday, 20 November 2003 08:41 (twenty-one years ago)

bitter perhaps being the incorrect word to use ollie

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 20 November 2003 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Melbourne bitter... not my favourite beer it has to be said...

steve, Thursday, 20 November 2003 08:59 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd be drinking COOPERS SPARKLING ALE

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 20 November 2003 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

steve, Thursday, 20 November 2003 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

they've got $41 slabs of those at safeways right now!

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 20 November 2003 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Yahoo! Just when I need to stock up for Sat'dy night...

steve, Thursday, 20 November 2003 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

STYLAGA?

With Gregg and Jim, right? So, how was that Rose Tattoo cover gig again?

Michael Dieter, Thursday, 20 November 2003 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

bitter perhaps being the incorrect word to use ollie

I don't want to linger on it, Jim, but...

OCP (OCP), Friday, 21 November 2003 01:28 (twenty-one years ago)

you've lost me

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 21 November 2003 01:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I reckon you're bitter about something.

OCP (OCP), Friday, 21 November 2003 09:31 (twenty-one years ago)

bitter about treetops? unlikely.

steve, Friday, 21 November 2003 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

i suggest that you're wrong. i've never begrudged anyone their success, no matter what opinion i have of their music. whatever my reasons for not liking a band are, it's never borne of bitterness.

it's a phrase that's thrown around a little too easily in my opinion. call me a negative bastard if you like, i won't argue with that. call me crazy. call me ugly and my band crap (i'm not saying you necessarily think any of this). but please don't call me bitter.

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 21 November 2003 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

(er, crosspost!)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 21 November 2003 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

in these parts, you only have to say "band x don't really do it for me" for it to be interpreted as a deep desire to gouge their eyes out with 2B pencils.

steve, Friday, 21 November 2003 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

these parts = melbourne? or ilx?

gaz (gaz), Friday, 21 November 2003 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

these parts = melbourne... some thin skins in this town.

steve, Friday, 21 November 2003 10:20 (twenty-one years ago)

eight months pass...
STYLAGA SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
