What are some albums you think you've listened to way to much, especially when you first got it.

Mine are:

Nigh Time
The Colour And The Shape
Nirvana

I've listened to all the OK Computer-onward Radiohead albums far too much. Those and 'Whatever You Love, You Are' by The Dirty Three. All wonderful albums, but damn, they've all run out of surprises, even Kid A.

i think in this constant push for surprises we can only diminish the value of small, nuanced differences. Songs are like people, i mean, it's a sort of violence whenever we write people off as being all the same, typical, or unsurprising instead of taking the time to sit down and appreciate all the small varieties. "they're all the same" is kinda like "that all sounds the same"

There a few records for me that by rights should be overplayed to death (I'm actually surprised I can still listen to Maps of Tacit at all), but that always turn up new feelings and details and nuances every time I listen to them. I think that's one of the nicest things you can discover about music.

And Justice For All by Metallica. Listened to it constantly when I was a senior in high school (aided by lots of pot smoking) It's a cool album and all, but I very rarely listen to it now although I know every single drum part and guitar lick. The same goes for Appetite for Destruction, but I think that one's held up better over the years.

Odelay. I still think it's a great album, but don't listen to it any more - not a good situation! I still consciously try to space out repeat listens of new albums I get to avoid what I privately refer to as "the Odelay effect".

I know what you mean syntaxfree. I think Discovery was on repeat in my player for like two years non stop. I haven't listened to it for a year now.

Odelay seconded, only I still listen to it. I remember listening to I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got every single day for what must have been months. I haven't retured to it or any Sinead in years.
