s1utsky (slutsky), Sunday, 23 November 2003 01:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep, that's it.

d.w., Sunday, 23 November 2003 01:47 (twenty-two years ago)

My favourite ever rave tune - esp. the remix ep 'The Complete Dominator'.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Sunday, 23 November 2003 02:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i luv it soooo much. i have a remix of it on R&S which is even better but i dont know who the remis is by because there is no info. it is on the "re-remixes' ep.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Sunday, 23 November 2003 07:25 (twenty-two years ago)

the best remixes were the beltram and bolland ones, i think.

if you like dominator, you should check out ace the space - "9 is a classic", which is a lot better, human resouce do a remix of this also

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 23 November 2003 08:55 (twenty-two years ago)

try playing the original at 33.3rpm - it becomes a really sick grinding hip hop track.

stirmonster, Sunday, 23 November 2003 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

MY GOD that remix EP is AMAZING.

If you like Human Resource (everyone look for "The Joke" NOW), check out 80 AUM! "Mindcontroller" and "Standing On Top" will own your WURLD!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 23 November 2003 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Yah, the Beltram mix is what prompted me to post: A Guy Called Gerald played it in his "6 Mix" (or whatever it's called) last week and I was listening to the rebroadcast via the web.

2manydjs have been playing it like crazy of late.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 24 November 2003 01:34 (twenty-two years ago)

yeh they think they invented it or something, tcha

stevem (blueski), Monday, 24 November 2003 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got "Dominator" on an old-style gramophone, and it's GRATE!!!!!

Old Fart!!! (oldfart_sd), Monday, 24 November 2003 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

it is cool that Beltram remixed them as they owe pretty much everything to him (everything being er, one hit single and a remix edition some time later)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 24 November 2003 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

it is no surprise, given the current climate, that the 91 belgium sound is becoming popular again, in alt.circles

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 24 November 2003 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

here is another fantastic use of the mentasm sound, this time combined with some scything breaks.

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 24 November 2003 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

i also like it on Isotonik's 'Different Strokes', a track that I thought was from N-Joi's 'Live In Manchester Parts 1 & 2' but I don't think actually is and the original version of DJPC's Inssomniak' and not the shite remix (unless it was the remix that was better and featured the Mentasm sound)

stevem (blueski), Monday, 24 November 2003 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

the BBC should enable recordings of the Essential Selection from '91 and '92 to be streamable online as Tongy was playing some fantastic stuff at that time and I would love to hear some of it again.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 24 November 2003 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

yes we must all buy our alpha junos now before they get priced at $500 instead of $200!

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Monday, 24 November 2003 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i blame benni bennasssi. i remember thinking this was the dumbest song evah, and now of course I love to dig it out once in a while - I think it might be on EVERY one of those euphoria old-skool 2cd collections. it is to rave comps as "Perfume" is to indie comps of that time

Alan (Alan), Monday, 24 November 2003 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Completely classic of course, along with T99 "Anasthasia" and Rotterdam Termination Source "Poing" this record IS 1991.

Siegbran (eofor), Monday, 24 November 2003 19:09 (twenty-two years ago)

argh! T99's "anasthasia" has always done my head in. it's funny all this talk of 'dominator' - in the clubs here (glasgow), it and (the superior imo) 'mentasm' have been a constant fixture since they came out. we love that hoover sound!

stirmonster, Monday, 24 November 2003 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I occasionally find myself wishing for a hoover like the one I hear in those tracks, just to clean the doghair and my girlfriend's hair off the carpet.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Monday, 24 November 2003 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

any idea what the track i linked to is stirmonster? its from an easygroove tape

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 24 November 2003 21:39 (twenty-two years ago)

sadly not. sounds like something that crazy 'ibiza' label would have put out.

stirmonster, Monday, 24 November 2003 22:38 (twenty-two years ago)

ok, well it seems to be 2 seperate tracks.

the first is Kanata - Soul, from a psychoactive sample 12?

the second part, with the mentasm sound is Enforcer - Dam Tuff (Awesome records)
