Hiya
I have just got a copy of the Small Faces Ogdens Nut Gone Flake from 1968 and damn it kicks ass! The atmosphere and sounds and pshycadelic funkiness are so cool. It really is kind of like a trip.

Can someone recommend some more stuff like this? Perhaps anyone knows a modern band with a twist on this style of rock music?

I already really love hendrix's psychadelic (e.g. 3rd stone from sun or hey baby nmew rising sun) stuff. And love pretty much all music much like everyone here.

thanks

ps on a side note the new shins album is amazing :)

Do you have S.F. Sorrow by The Pretty Things, Mr. Monket?

if you like the shins you should get the last three lilys records, the shins borrow liberally from them but then the lilys stole from the kinks.

I'm assuming you've heard some Blur -- "Modern Life...", "Great Escape", and "Parklife" owe much to the Small Faces. The title track from "Parklife" might as well be the SF's "Lazy Sunday".

there's a band from melbourne called The Smallgoods who garner a lot of Small Faces comparisons, although i can't speak for the accuracy as i've not heard them

The lilys stole from everyone and the newest one stinks harder. He should have stuck with the MBV hook. I'm not sure about the Kinks connection but if you hear it then you hear it.
