I'm sure this has been discussed here before, but let's discuss which of the four KISS solo LPs is best

I haven't heard all of them, but the only one i have is the Ace Frehley one, and it is great all the way through, "New York Groove" or not (which is actually an old song that was written for early UK glam pop band Hello).

The general take on the Peter Criss one is generally "OK, 'Beth' was pretty but you ain't gettin' away with an entire album of 'Beth' wannabe's, pal. Sorry. NEXT"

On Paul Stanley: "Hmmmm, KISS LITE!"

On Gene Simmons: "WTF? OK, I.. um, like this. it's different. It's like a soundtrack to some movie or something"

HAHAHAHA, see what happens when i don't cut and paste ENOUGH of another's thread title! Mods, could you change "three" to "four" in the thread title? Thank you. Teaches me a lesson about copy/cut/paste/mocking thread titles.

Kiss sucks. Ace was cool tho, so, having only heard bits and pieces of each, I'll say Ace.

If the only hard rock albums to be had where Kiss and Kiss member
solo albums, you could probably get away with calling Ace's solo
LP mildly entertaining. It was the best of a rum lot. The best
that can be said is that he always had fair to good taste in cover
versions.

Eventually, Frehley made other solo albums, all somewhat better
than his first. However, still very little to write home about.
File with: Joe Perry Project, St. Paradise, Buck Dharma's "Flat Out,"
ESP (second generation Kiss ex-pats), Michael Bruce solo, etc.

Ace's yielded the only palpable hit (which I didn't learn until years and years later is actually a cover!) The odd thing about "New York Groove" is some of the geographical shout-outs Ace indulges in. For example, he cites "3rd & 43". Have you ever been to 43rd & 3rd? There's fucking NOTHING there! I mean, if that's your idea of nightlife, Ace, you must be completly wasted....oh wait.

Gene's gave us "Radioactive" and the immortal chestnut, "I'm Living in Sin (at the Holiday Inn), so it's, of course, a classic!
