High School Reunion Rock

This weekend, I'm heading back to Pittsburgh, motivated in part by the chance to attend the ten-year reunion of the Mt. Lebanon High School Class of '93 (which can kinda claim one minor celebrity: Matt Gould, the "star" of "Joe Schmo," was with us up through ninth grade, but he missed many days with mono that year and had to repeat, so he wound up in the Class of '94...). Anyway, I've been trying to think of songs that address high school reunions. Obviously, John Mayer's "No Such Thing" would qualify. Bruce Hornsby & The Range's "Stander On The Mountain" would also be there. I've come to associate P.M. Dawn's "Set Adrift On Memory Bliss" ("caught up with a past time intimate friend") with reunions, even if the lyrics aren't explicitly about that sort of thing. Perhaps their use in "Grosse Pointe Blank" would draw "Mirror In The Bathroom" and "Matador." Any other ideas?

I stoppped going to high school reunions a while back. After a while, each one I went to didn't remind me so much of halcyon high school days, they just reminded me of all the other crappy reunions I'd been to.

Songs about high school reunions? What about "My Old School" by Steely Dan (as in "I'm never going back to...").

Most of the people I want to see at the reunion i see on a regular basis anyways, why pay $30 to see people I hate.

I hated my 10-year. But my 20 is coming up .. and since everyone was going bald, toothless and fat at the 10 year, I'm kind of curious to see how bad they look after 20. But I'm not really interested in any of their stories about their kids - so fuck em.

My coworker Lisa sez that she was considering going to her tenth reunion but her father said that all anyone would do would be talking about their job and houses and status symbols and all that. Instead, he recommended going to the 50th reunion because 'all the evil people will be dead by then.'
