Van Halen guitar solos

This seems like a great trivia question I don't have the patience (or complete catalog) to figure out:

Does every Van Halen song feature a guitar solo?

(Discounting, of course, the brief title track from "1984" and the half valid but boring claim that, in fact, every Van Halen song *is* a guitar solo.)

1984 is a little synth intro on the so it doesn't.

Hmm, "Sunday Afternoon in the Park" from "Fair Warning" is one, I guess. Though it's also sort of an intro to "One Foot Out the Door."

"Eruption"

"Strung Out" from Balance doesn't. It's just Ed plinking around inside of a grand piano.

"How many say I?" - a truly bizarre song, no guitar solo that I can recall.

Isn't that on 3? I haven't heard it in five years, so I don't recall anything about it.

I actually tried to slsk it the other day out of nostalgic curiosity, but it doesn't look like many other people thought enough of it to keep a copy for five years, either.

Yep, that's off "3". That's the piano song Eddie sings with Cherone doing harmonies. I hate to admit it, but I kinda like it in a really perverse way because it's just so leftfield for them... Eddie's singing could do with a bit of work though. ;-)

Oh, I remember now! It's a good thing Eddie makes his dough playing a guitar.

The lyrics are pretty darn average (not that VH has ever had particularly good lyrics) also... gotta stick to your strengths, and in EVH's case lead vocals and lyrics aren't exactly his strong points. :-)

"Dance the Night Away" doesn't have one, does it? That aside, the second album has the best solos. It sounds like the guys upfront hated each other even back then and EVH is pretending that the guitar strings are DLR's vocal cords. "Outta Love Again" is particularly interesting in that the first solo is a series of atonal noises, and then the second solo actually builds on the 'theme' from the first one and you couldn't have even imagined one being there! From the next albums the "Romeo Delight", "Fools", "Unchained" and "Mean Street" solos are outstanding.
