one month passes...
Long time, no answers, I see. I think their bassist, whoever, was one of a very few that made the band go. I think of Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy and Jack Bruce of Cream, and Stu Cook of Creedence, and Bill Wyman of the Sones and.. well, you get the idea... hey had a different sound than their peers. Sam Lives !!!!! and so do the monsters under your bed.

ten years pass...

Sam's solo album from '71, Hard And Heavy, on Atlantic is killer. Backing from the Dixie Flyers with tasty cameos from Duane Allman. Real Gone did a nice but now OOP CD reissue back in 2013. However, it's up on Spotify and other services. Too bad there's never been a vinyl reissue; seems like heads would flip over one of those.

Highly recommended if you're into Doug Sahm/SDQ and other early '70s roots stuff.

Not an Allman fan, but the Doug Sahm mention and the fact that I have never heard Sam the Sham solo, makes me curious
