"Maybe The People..." is fantastic, but it doesn't seem like a very danceable song.

If I were you, I'd play "I Only Wanna Be With You" by Dusty Springfield, "I Washed My Hair" by the 5AM Event, anything off the LA Happening comp, some Major Lance, and "Rosalyn" by the Pretty Things.

the sonics - shot down / have love will travel

seven years pass...

Seems to be the most general thread for '60s soul...Something from a Radiants compilation I bought on the weekend; just love it. Feel like I should know it, but I don't think I do.

That song was sufficiently big enough in Texas to get a cover by Little Jr. Jesse & The Teardrops, one of the umpteen Brown-Eyed Soul outfits from San Antonio rediscovered by Numero Group

Okay, heteros are cutting edge this year, too. (C. Grisso/McCain), Thursday, 20 March 2025 23:29 (six months ago)

Yeah, I see it charted #91 on the Top 100 and #14 on the R&B chart. "Voice Your Choice" was their biggest hit--I knew that from somewhere.

clemenza, Friday, 21 March 2025 01:26 (six months ago)

I have this compilation album on Kent called Soul Class of '66 - the whole thing is great. This might be my favorite. I think it was a New York record.

? & The Myseterians 2 lps are filled with soul influenced garage stuff. Some utter classics therein.

Mel & Tim Backfield in Motion.

I picked up a few Northern Soul compis over the last while which have some fantastic things on.

Let's Do The Boogaloo a v/a compi of Latinate sounds . Got some great grooves.

Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels Breakout
2nd, more guitar driven l.p. by Detroit high octane soul/r'n'b orientated rock and roll. Guitarist was later in Cactus.
