Is it right to be uncommonly pleased about the fact that Monster Magnet are releasing a cover of 'Venus in Furs' on their next single?

I think it is. It's just one of those things that puts a huge smile on one's face, like watching two squirrels fighting.

The box below is the bit where you agree with me.

I don't think Venus In Furs is one of the Velvet's better songs. I like almost any other song off the banana album better. Maybe it was daring in the sixties, but it sounds a bit tame and clichéd now.

And that's why we need the REBORN Magnet to inject it with new FILTHY life for THE NOUGHTIES! Right.

(In truth they're not even one of my favourite bands or anything but COME ON it's MM covering Venus In bloody Furs! You can't not find that funny.)

This might kick ass if we were talking about "cracked my head doin airplanes" Monster Magnet - but we're not.

Yeah, Monster Magnet have sucked since Superjudge (with the only sparks of life being "Negasonic Teenage Warhead" and the video - only the video - for "Space Lord").

i hated and then grew to completely love their cover of black celebration, so this should be great.

Word. I actually liked Dopes To Infinity pretty well, but that next one was as disappointing to me as the "Black Album" or "Roots." The video where they made fun of Mase and Puffy was classic though - on mute.

Exiting a Lou Reed show earlier this year:

(gray-haired hipster in denim jacket #1): That was good, that shiny shiny song.
(g-h.h.i.d.j.#2): Yeah! Was that off Berlin?
(#1): I think it was even earlier than that.
(#2): Yeah, that was good.
(#1): (singing softly) Shiny shiny boots...

And you didn't, I don't know, beat them to death right there?

Aw, I thought they were cute. Like some lost tribe.
