Hendrix is apparently the 3rd biggest bootlegged artist, but which live performances either official or not are worth hearing?

I've never felt a need to go beyond that Band of Gypsies/Live at the Fillmore East reissue (which is really great).

I wanna hear that Berkely thing that just came out because I've always totally fucking adored the "Hear My Train a-Comin'" from it (it's on the Blues comp, which rules)

I'm not a big bootleg guy, but I can recommend legit releases In the West (a patchwork, but worth hearing) and Live at Monterey (which is almost more a historical document than live album). Band of Gypsies is live too, I think, and that's a must.

'Live at Monterrey' is a good one, especially the version of "Killing Floor". It hasn't been in print for awhile.

Get yourself the two Band of Gypsies records (legit releases) and, if you can find it, my favorite bootleg: Stockholm 1967. Tremendous.

Hurlothrumbo (hurlothrumbo), Wednesday, 26 November 2003 21:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Woodstock is indispensable i reckon, but Monterey is another legendary performance. But i agree with Jordan and Hurlothrumbo, my favoured stuff would be Band of Gypsies (the best Henrix album full stop) and its companion piece Live at Fillmore East.
You can probably ignore the Isle of Wight (Blue Wild Angel).

oh yeah, Woodstock! definitely that one

Live at Winterland and The Jimi Hendrix Concerts both very good. Possibly out of print tho.

not sure where it's from, but the red house version on disc 3 of the experience box set is the best one you'll ever hear...
