This makes me totally interested, actually!

Did they actually cover the Misfits' "Teenagers from Mars"? Heh heh heh.

I thought the extra musicians were actual members of Devo?

The album is OK. Not special, but not terrible.

Hasn't this been pretty much common knowledge for a couple months? I mean, I think I even saw it in Rolling Stone, and I wasn't even paying attention. Haven't even seen the album or anything. At any rate, I'm pretty sure they've completely denied the Devo rumor.

That Network record has a few really good songs on it, actually. "Right Hand O Rama" is probably the best song the Green Day guys have ever done. Along with "Brain Stew," I guess.

I've always liked "Geek Stink Breath," because I used to diddle around with the same riff before they ever released that song. I kind of feel like I wrote it...

Yeah, that song is okay too. I don't think Green Day suck or anything, I just really like "Right Hand O Rama."

one year passes...
The Network are genius! SO MUCH BETTER than Green Day. It's like this (and Pinhead Gunpowder) are Billie Joe's "real" bands, and that greenday popunk shit is just to pay the bills, if ya ask me.

BUMPing this because I got this CD out of a radio station's "this sucks, take it" bin somewhere close to two years ago, and while I don't have it around anymore I remember it being surprisingly not awful. I mean, there's plenty of cringe-worthy stuff, especially the track that's an answering machine message, but as a lead single "Joe Robot" blows "American Idiot" to pieces. There were some really cool sounds on this thing. "Hungry Hungry" and the title track were the ones I skipped to. I really would encourage anyone who likes weird Devo ripoff type things to give this a whirl.

I guess it's a good thing for Green Day that they really didn't promote this very much or whatever, because it probably would have killed the momentum on the big comeback record etc. Do they ever play Network songs in concert?
