its all over kids, "roll deep" are playing the ICA, at playlouder.

i'll be going out of a sense of duty, i guess. my prediction? it will sound shit (for all acts concerned), "roll deep" will turn out to be danny weed's mum djing and will get booed off, and gold chains will suck. again.

so, anyone else up for this potential disaster of a night?

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 27 November 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

going to miss kittin and andy weatherall the night after, so i doubt it. also, its at the ica, so definitely no

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 27 November 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

why are you going to miss Kittin/Weathers lido?

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 27 November 2003 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

er, never mind

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 27 November 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

jeez that sucks. it's half tempting but you just know it'll be terrible. also i loathe gold chains.

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 27 November 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

What's T. Raumschmiere like live, anyone? He was s'posed to be playing down this way a while back, but pulled out cos someone couldn't get hold of the right bit of kit for him... which would have been all well and good, except when said gizmo was found with ages til showtime, he still refused to play point blank... the cunt.

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Thursday, 27 November 2003 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

gold chains?! god that's fucking depressing.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 27 November 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

next week: n.a.s.t.y. with dj honky and mc paul barman

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 27 November 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

what's the problem? let's face it, none of us are ever gonna go to sidewinder or eskimo dance. and obviously i'd love to go to sidewinder but i'm a skinny white boy with longish hair and i really can't afford evisu jeans! not even fake ones!!

seann, Thursday, 27 November 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

it is a pretty fucked up line up though. digi funk.

seannnnnnnnn, Thursday, 27 November 2003 17:01 (twenty-two years ago)

the funny thing is, i'd bet wiley would dig gold chains. fucking snobs

seannn, Thursday, 27 November 2003 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

what is the ica and why is it so bad?

robin (robin), Thursday, 27 November 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

ica=art venue

roll deep playing there messes with the class/race/aesthetic oppositions that many hold so dear

bugged out, Thursday, 27 November 2003 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

More importantly, the sound in there is utter crap.

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 27 November 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

can we call grime 'tech-noise' from now on?

The problem is that the crowd is entirely going to be made up of dance-averse chin-strokers. I don't really picture them vibezin' to Eskimo.

Philippe, Thursday, 27 November 2003 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

its just a boring venue. theres plenty of warehousey type stuff on where its more party. its not abuot any class/race/aesthetic crap, i'd just rather go to Lost or Turnmills or Fortress

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 27 November 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

haha, as indeed i am, the following night, to raumshmire/kittin/weatherall at Fortress

charltonlido (gareth), Thursday, 27 November 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

weatherall is here on the 4th, and then raumschmiere the next week.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 27 November 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

also gold chains really is utterly shit, he ruined the evening last time i had the misfortune of seeing him.

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 27 November 2003 23:06 (twenty-two years ago)

which are the london venues with good sound, again?

tom west (thomp), Thursday, 27 November 2003 23:09 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah my disdain has nothing to do with class and everything to do with his utter fucking suckage.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 27 November 2003 23:29 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah cos er eskimo is too simple for chinstrokers to theorise about?!

this gig sounds terribly fun, i'm dere

prima fassy (bob), Friday, 28 November 2003 08:16 (twenty-two years ago)

re: venues with good sound. this lineup would be wicked at PLASTIC PEOPLE. but its not there. i mean, you could forget gold chains, roll deep and dabrye would be well good somewhere where you could actually hear, like the beats, the bass, the words etc etc.

ambrose (ambrose), Friday, 28 November 2003 09:07 (twenty-two years ago)

also, G, turnmills is shitty shitty on a stick. between that and the ica is a difficult one. i mean, at least they sell decent beer at the ica. turnmills has 0 redeeming features.

also, miss kitten is tempting but a) i hate t raumshmiere b) its the dredded work christmas DO.

ambrose (ambrose), Friday, 28 November 2003 10:42 (twenty-two years ago)

BUMP - so anyone going tomorrow besides me?
roll deep are on at 9.20 apparently??!?!?!

well, it sound like the polar opposite of that eskimo dance at the weekend. we'll all be tucked up in bed by 11.30, not past my bedtime!!!!

ambrose (ambrose), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 21:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Deep roll-playing, WEAK!

Speedy Gonzalas (Speedy Gonzalas), Thursday, 4 December 2003 09:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Main problem with the ICA = the fact that the bar is in a different room altoghether and takes about 20mins to get served and even then you're lucky if you can fight your way back through the frenzied queue with your drinks intact.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 4 December 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

none of us are ever gonna go to sidewinder or eskimo

Speak for yourself! I would if I could, and Mr Woebot did.

JoB (JoB), Thursday, 4 December 2003 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

roll deep didn't turn up :(

Adam Connolly, Friday, 5 December 2003 00:10 (twenty-two years ago)

REALLY?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 5 December 2003 00:16 (twenty-two years ago)

...smart fellas...

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 5 December 2003 00:17 (twenty-two years ago)

wot a washout that was....

now can we finally ban the ICA from existence?

ambrose (ambrose), Friday, 5 December 2003 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)
