DO you think Death Cab For Cutie would do well on mainstream radio?

The word around town is that the majors are courting Death Cab For Cutie in a big way. Can you people envision them on your local radio station along side the other "alternative" bands? I can't.

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Thursday, 27 November 2003 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

i see them nestling in just fine

dyson (dyson), Thursday, 27 November 2003 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

i think they would do well, but i wouldn't want it to happen

possible m (mandinina), Thursday, 27 November 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

they'd have a chance to bore the shit out of a wider audience. huzzah.

sean marvin (williamtell), Thursday, 27 November 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

haha. anyway like i said THEY'VE ALREADY BEEN ON THE FUCKING OC. that is way more mainstream then "radio."

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Thursday, 27 November 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

keith m (keithmcl), Thursday, 27 November 2003 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't that the equivalent of sleeping your way to the bottom?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 27 November 2003 21:00 (twenty-two years ago)

do the kids sing along at death cab concerts?

keith m (keithmcl), Thursday, 27 November 2003 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

is ned ragget the pope?

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Thursday, 27 November 2003 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

they'd fit in on Australian mainstream radio. they would sit nicely in between Something for Kate and Powderfinger without anyone batting an eyelid

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 27 November 2003 22:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Why not? Anything that vaguely listenable can be marketed. It's all about targeting the right demographic. I think the kids would dig them.

James Slone (Freon Trotsky), Thursday, 27 November 2003 22:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, it seems like the key to having success on rock radio (with only few exceptions) is to have melody, but really dull and lackluster ones, and that seems to be what Death Cab does best. Maybe they can catch on.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Thursday, 27 November 2003 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I think The Sea And Cake would.

Johnny Badlees (crispssssss), Thursday, 27 November 2003 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, sea and cake are fantastically dull and lackluster.
