might be true. Holmer's sets of late have been very much in the 60s/70s funk/soul/Northern Soul vein with, as has been said, a couple of modern bits'n'bobs chucked in too, and a handful of Free Association tracks too (a very good thing, the album's fab).
But yeah, I saw him in Hamburg in 1995 and he played very fast, very dull techno, so I appreciate the cindusion this might cause. Either way, go see him, you're in for an eclectic treat (just don't expect any beat-mixing - he rarely bothers).

hence the reason he has a new record label, canderblinks on the go. supposedly stuff to be sorted out in 2008, but with the history re 13 Amp i wouldn't hold your breathe.

anyone else got the quietly released new album ?seems to have continued down the road of his mellow Code 46 soundtrack (which was released as a Free Association album) with use of fuzzy guitar layers and electronic ambiance.ie. a lovely album for the onset of autumn.

yep, been listening just this morning in fact and really enjoying it.more subdued than i was really expecting, not having followed him too closely as of late, but very well done and engaging

i am enjoying this album more and more with each spin.though there is a nagging feeling that david has effectively updated (via eno) the joy zipper sound. you know, the band he signed to his now defunct label 13 amp.however, i do love the fact that there are no guest lead vocals, any that there are, are buried deep in the mix.also, its nice, and somewhat unexpected, to see jason falkner involved.

no idea what his music sounds like, but he's always DJing with Andy Votel, so i'm assuming his crates are deep

This is a great album, really good to see that every single review, and all the comments here, have been positive. It's a major departure for him and a total success.

I am loving the new David Holmes record! It sounds like he took all the record archaeology that he learned from Andy Votel and Co. and just... threw it off the balcony.
There is not one whiff of dusty records and old vinyl clouding up the cobwebs of the mind on this one.
So far what I hear on this record is a love of pop romanticism, EXUBERANCE, and SHEEN. Great record.

i absolutely love this record.everything about it just works, from the sweet buzz pop of the opening single through to the eno styled ambience at the end.
