but aren't necessarily french or in french:

Kevin Ayers and the Whole World - "May I", so much so that there is actually a version by him in French entitled "Puis-Je".
Tim Buckley - "Moulin Rouge", which has some really bad attempts at French in it.
Roxy Music - "Song For Europe", which also has some French lyrics, but I'm only pointing it out because the band is English.

Leonard Cohen to thread, especially "The Partizan", although I don't know if his Canadian-ness disqualifies him.

"Slippery Morning" by Erica Pomerance, but then she's from Quebec so it doesn't really count.

I think that guy rapping with Thristin Howl III sometimes "spits" in French in order to add extra flava to his rhymes.

Most songs which have that ascending/descending chord sequence from, say, Brel's "Jacky" at least aspire to sound French, whether or not they 'get' there - cf Blur's "To The End", Momus "Hairstyle of the Devil", quite a lot of PSB stuff ... loads more.

I also always thought Black's "Sweetest Smile" sounded French.

Didn't Sting used to insist on singing in some utterly jackassed lingualized hybrid of Jamaic-o-French circa the first few Police albums?

What a dick he was, eh?

That's cause it *is* in French. Or at least the second half anyway.

Yes, the second part is in french, but that didn't stop Roxy Music from not being slapdowned on this thread. < /huff>

And anyway, most of LC sounds french-like. His voice sounds like a strong cigarette.
