Is CMJ New Music Magazine any good?

Im lookin for a solid music mag to subscribe to, so your opinions are welcome...

When they stopped being comic-book-sized, things went down hill. Of course, it is "College Music Journal" and "college music" has gotten pretty horrible since the mid-90s.

I dont think it is worthwhile- not to mention their subscription services had much to be desired when I had a subscription- I would go with the Big Takeover or DIW magazine (for the 7") - Magnet is ok.

CMJ gets old after two or three issues. It's too trade magish. If you can afford MOJO ($80 or so for a US subscription, I think) you should try that. If you've got that kind of cash, maybe check out The Wire, too, though it could make you feel inadequate. As for the affordables, Big Takeover rules, as does Magnet. If Puncture's still publishing, it's worth it, too.
