Is this only current or can we pick ones from the past as well?

bahtology, Sunday, 30 November 2003 19:40 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah past house bands would be GREBT

Well, if ones from the past are OK -- Dennis Miller's execrable late-night talk show had Andy Summers leading the house band for a while, until he quit and was replaced by Zappa alumnus Chad Wackerman.

Johnny Carson's band was quite nice as well. Conan O'Brien's is probably the best thing currently going on US TV, and as a plus has the coolest theme song (written by John Lurie).

related question: best late-night show theme. i vote for johnny carson, it's so FINGER SNAPPIN

My pick would be the band that Joan Rivers had during her ill-advised run at late night made brief by Carson's wrath.

The White Mice, probably. House band at Munch House in Providence.

I know nobody will agree with me, but for what it's worth, I really did like what-his-name's band who played with Hall And Oates from SNL.
