have they gone away? they were the best Fall (80-82) ripoff band eva, but with their own twist to it too. great singles, great lyrics, and the 2 peel session i have were wonderful (circa 98? will supply dates when i've had a look at my tapes later). but did the stuff on those sessions ever get released commercial. The Male Nurse, where are you?

Alan, their guitarist died. Some members now to be found in Country Teasers

i didn't know this. so, in the end did they just release those 3 Guided Missile 7"s? if so, this is a real shame, because the stuff on the peel sessions was amazing. if anyone is interested in it, drop me an e-mail.

i have to say, the Country Teasers stuff i've heard just isn't the same.

i've heard some rumours of an album? posthumous? peel sessions? just a comp of the 7"s? anyone know anything?

I would seriously doubt it, for the reason mentioned above by Alasdair, but then maybe they don't own the rights, etc.

I found it too difficult to see beyond the people involved to really appreciate the music, but that's not intended as a criticism.

I managed to find what I think is the 3 singles on Slsk, but they were all in one folder with no tags.

These are the songs:

1 GDR
1 Magic circle in the sky
1 My own private Patrick Swayze
2 Deep fried
2 I'm a man
2 What does woman want

Can anyone tell me which A side goes with which B side?

what are the lyrics to I'm a man? Obviously most of them are easily understood. But then the parts where he's saying stuff other than im a man are a little unlcear. I would really appreciate help! Thanks.

Finally got round to checking this band out. I'm quite happy with them. Just as Fallish as I, Ludicrous if not more so, but I think I like their laid back style better.

Singer Keith and guitarist Alastair are still making art, not sure about music.

Wanted to call this thread up again because out of all the music I've had on my plate recently (overwhelmed? me?) this group has continued to be the cream of the crop for me for quite awhile. In fact, this Patrick Swayze song...sometimes I lie awake thinking about it because it's just such a weird bewitching concept of this two foot high Patrick Swayze under the guy's bed. It's very funny but also sinister at the same time and I think the dinky sound of the keyboards seems to get that across perfectly. "Oh Swayze! I'm bigger 'n you!"

Also, yes I don't think anyone could really do a better Fall impersonation than they did. I'm sorry if they would be insulted by hearing that, but you can't possibly NOT hear it in them. I hear The Fall in all the songs I have by them now (inc. Peel Sessions). And they just did such a fantastic job of it you really can't hold it against them.

Another thing I found on another related thread here was where someone had asked the question of whether there were any members that went on to be in Franz Ferdinand, which was a question I was curious about myself. But from what I see on Wikipedia vs. the Keeping It Peel part of the BBC website, there weren't any connections.
