Does anyone else love this man like I do. Both "Not the Way" and "A" are totally amazing, but I hear very little about him. Saw him twice this year and the two shows were different but both great. "A" is my favorite album of the year. Any oppinions?

I like "I Went to the Hospital". I downloaded the album, but it's not really my thing so I can't sit through it. I like a few songs, though. That's why I downloaded it. If I met him I would give him $10, but I wouldn't accept a CD from him.

I finally picked this up and it's excellent. Very overlooked (except by 4ad I guess). Lovely country-tinged, tin pan alley tunes.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I really liked A for two weeks then never listened to it again.

He effortlessly satisfies my neo-Reed/Lennon jones. I'm glad 4AD's giving it a proper re-release in '04, so I can consider mentioning it at the end of the year.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Yawn. Let me guess, he lives in NYC now too!

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 19:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't get it, gygax. do you not like cass mccombs?

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 19:57 (twenty-one years ago)

after having to sit through innumerable mediocre opening slots of his for far greater talents in this town for the past 5 years, not in any way whatsoever.

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

heh. i get it. and yes, i think he does live in nyc now.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate to say it (sweet as the Cass guys are), but I agree with gygax. *Yaaaaaawn* Casiotowen has better country-rockin friends and their name is Holy Toledo.

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Cass McCombs currently resides in Baltimore MD, the home of the Ouija board.

dean! (deangulberry), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

oh this dullard! yeah what gygax said, i saw him open for fiery furnaces

prima fassy (mwah), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Follow-up to Wit's End already coming in November. As far as I'm concerned, this dude could release a new album every month and I'd pre-order every one of 'em, so this is great news.

tylerw, Thursday, 18 August 2011 18:12 (thirteen years ago)

show was great btw, he's a better performer than when i last saw him (which admittedly was a hell of a long time ago)

tylerw, Thursday, 18 August 2011 18:12 (thirteen years ago)

so awesome that he is releasing another album so quick. and that domino is letting him, assume they would want him to tour behind wits end more.
cool cover too

Yes! Sounds like the record will be more upbeat than Wits End. Took me a while to get my head round that last one but once I did it hit hard. This guy is killer. Surprised not more people who think so. Bring it on.

Tip of The Sphere is nice,,, Dan Lead’s pedal steel, especially on "Rounder" is sublime.
