Ex-Real World cast members musical projects

Usually, every season (or at least a lot of them) of the Real World has the token musician. Whatever happens to these aspiring young stars when they left. Offhand, I can remember these:

First season: Becky (Susan Vega-esque late 80s style modern rock folkiness), Heather B (female rapper who actually was in the studio in an episode with Kenny Parker, KRS-One's brother from BDP) -- also the deathless scrungers Andre-fronted REIGNDANCE, whose records I have seen in used bins before.

Second Season: John the country singer, also angry comedian David was replaced by stoner Glenn (?) who had a crappy Jane's Addiction type band called Perch I believe

Third Season (nobody I guess, unless Puck was in a punk band or something)

Forth Season (My memory gets worse as we go) -- London I believe, with punky hunk Neil who appeared to be in some kinda industrial punk type thing, got his tongue bit off.

Fifth Season (nobody? there was a poet though)

After this I didn't watch as much, athough I think there was a rapper in Hawaii that hosted some MTV show later

So, has anyone actually heard any ex-Real Worlders albums, and if so are they any good or crappy as you might expect. I do remember seeing a Heather B video on BET once that I thought was allright. Please enlighten me!

(also, Chuck Klosterman to thread!)

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

in the Third Season the black guy with dreads had a rap band

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, there were kinda like Digable Planets or something jazz rap live band.

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

David from New Orleans was by far the most talented of the lot. skee dappa dee dappa dee.

Chris B. Sure (Chris V), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

3rd Season: Mohammed (aka The Castmember They Never Showed Because He Was Normal And Was Never Home) was in an Arrested Development-style spoken word/hip-hop/world beat combo with about 5000 members.

4th Season: Sharon was a soul/house singer.

5th Season: No one, I don't think.

6th Season: Elka was dating a guitarist.

7th Season: Rebecca recorded a song with Sir Mix-A-Lot and currently fronts Keanu Reeves' band.

8th Season: Ruthie rapped and I think is shopping a demo. Teck rapped and hosted some MTV things, plus had a bit part in "National Lampoon's Van Wilder".

9th Season: Black David sang the Nat'l anthem and attempted to get a recording career. Julie played drums in White Stripes rip-off band Bunkbed Incident along with her guitarist boyfriend until they broke up.

10th Season: Lori recorded a demo for Arista, then went on to numerous waitressing jobs and getting engaged to Big Head Kyle from Chicago.

11th Season: Cara and Aneesa did some informal duetting together, but neither is persuing a singing career that I know of. Cara also hooked up with the lead singer of Big Head Todd.

12th Season: No musicians, but it's worth noting that odds are Trishelle has slept with many a rock star by now.

13th Season: Adam appears to suffer from the delusion that the fact that his father was a Commodore means he can rap. Reams of videotape will prove him wrong.

(I didn't have to fact-check any of this, BTW. FEAR MY REAL WORLD TRIVIA BRAIN.)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

mohammed was by far the coolest real worlder, at least in season 3.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

nice Dan, were you ever man enough to buy the Reigndance record???

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

he did seem like the only one without serious issues

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Adams rap.

Chris B. Sure (Chris V), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

mohammed was by far the coolest real worlder, at least in season 3

There's two ways to define "coolest", either A) Real Worlder seems like a decent person and probably pretty cool to hang out with in real life or B) smarmiest, rude, self-involved fuck-o, which usually = most entertaining to watch

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, my favorite by far are New Orleans' "come on be my baby tonight doo be doo be doo" David and the current season's Adam's confession booth raps. I think if I was on the Real World I would just rap and sing to myself anytime I was alone with the cameras.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Mohammed was only 'cool' because he had enough sense to not be around the house enough to appear in the show much.

The real cool guy from RW San Fran? Dorky ol' comics geek Judd Winick.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Let me finish that thought - Mohammed may only seem cool because you didn't get to see him be lame very much.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh, I just watched that Adam thing-- tee hee! he's got the old-skool flow fo sho!

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

also I finally (duh) AMG'd Heather B -- She's still in the game (with Pete Rock and Premier, even)! Also, I remember All Glocks Down her single!

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll

I think I also remember a collaboration with MOP in a video.

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, also Tami from season 2 was in an all-girl hip-hop group and I think Beth A. might have had musical aspirations as well. Dominic was a music critic.

I take serious issue with Judd being The Cool Guy from season 3 as he was the passive-aggressive manipulator of the group. (Having said that, yeah he wins over Puck any day of the week in the "who would I rather live with" lottery.)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I remember Heather's tune and New Orleans David's tune! I think he's one of those talented but doomed to make corny ass music guys.

I do remember, years and years ago, flipping through the radio stations and stopping on a country song because it sounded oddly familiar. It was John's single, of course.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Heather B actually released a couple of underrated 12"'s. I don't know if they're still available. I think that's a case of the Real World kicking the legs out of her career before it was even established.

scott m (mcd), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Conversely, Jacinda Barrett's acting career has been soldiering on underneath the radar (she's got a supporting role in "The Human Stain"), largely because she avoids all contact with The Real World nowadays.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan OTM re: Judd - that guy creeped me out.

I think Tami from LA real world also married an NBA player, so maybe she just chucked the music career after that.

(Dan, I'm now assuming that you own Reigndance's entire recorded output)

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha no, I don't have any Reigndance but that's not intentional! I kind of want the video that they made!

Tami did chuck in the music career after marrying into the NBA, but since her divorce I think she's been trying to get back into the entertainment world via acting. She's also been on daytime talk shows talking about her experiences with domestic abuse (and you have no idea how hard I'm trying to keep myself from making an "IT WASN'T NOT FUNNY" joke here).

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I take serious issue with Judd being The Cool Guy from season 3 as he was the passive-aggressive manipulator of the group. (Having said that, yeah he wins over Puck any day of the week in the "who would I rather live with" lottery.)

Dan OTM! He was very whiny and manipulative, he would almost be as hard to live with as Puck. It annoys me that he has went on to have a successful career in comics.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Speaking of Jacinda's denial of her past, what about the two LA guys (Aaron the surfer MBA and Dominic the rock writer)...those two never went to any of the reunions and were barely on the LA show by the end....

Has anyone ever heard any of Dominic's rock criticism?

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I must speak up for the ur-Real World group of people together that started the whole thing, IE the kids on the bus in Depeche Mode 101. But happily since I have the rereleased DVD with new interviews with some of them I'll find out if any of them in fact went on to make music of their own!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Has anyone ever heard any of Dominic's rock criticism?

I guess you woud read rock criticism rather than hear it probably.

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Judd's been REALLY successful in comics. Most of what he writes is lame and deeply unimaginative retro 80s superhero comics with pseudo-"Friends" dialogue, though. There's always an audience for boring trad superhero stuff, I guess.

Confession time: I remember thinking when I was 12 or 13 (whenever Real World 2 aired - 92? 93?) that Glenn's band Perch sounded kinda cool. I was listening to non-stop Pearl Jam at the time, though.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, please explain....Depeche Mode real world?? this sounds fascinating.

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

wasn't Judd also the one that was cast in favor of Dave Eggers? (not sure if that's a good or bad thing)

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I was looking for some of Dominic's writing via Google (Dominic Griffin) but couldn't find anything. He's done some movie reviews, though.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the most successful RWers to date are Judd, Kyle, Sean and Jacinda.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

wasn't Judd also the one that was cast in favor of Dave Eggers? (not sure if that's a good or bad thing)

Yes.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

for some reason I always thought the reason Mohammad wasn't on RW3 was because he was smoking pot all the time. He was always so mellow..

judd might be pass-ag but some of his comics are pretty good. check out barry ween boy genius. its pretty funny in the vein of stewie from family guy...

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, please explain....Depeche Mode real world?? this sounds fascinating.

It's not a direct connection, but it occurred to me a while back that the kids on the bus following Depeche across the country were in a way a precursor to both The Real World and Road Rules, ie documentary (carefully edited) approach to folks just fucking around. When I got the reissue of 101 on DVD, I was terribly amused to see that in the liner notes D. A. Pennebaker said as much! (Specifically The Real World.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Heather B is now a regular co-host on Ricki Lake, if that counts as "success". She usually comes on to be a judge for "hottest guy" contests and stuff like that. Her and Ricki seem to be pretty good pals.

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Rachel from Real World San Fran was just recently edged out to be one of the hosts of The View. She was one of the three finalists, but the producers opted for some girl from Survivor instead.

Judd's comic about Pedro wasn't bad. I've never bothered with the Barry Ween stuff, but I've heard nice things. Of course, I've read nice things about his Exiles and Green Lantern comics, and those were total dross.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I miss out on a lot of important cultural touchstones because I'm not interested in Depeche Mode. I will rent it soon, sounds interesting.

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan, what have Kyle and Sean done?

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Sean won public office in his home town; I think he's on the Wisconsin Senate or something similar. Kyle got a recurring role on "Days Of Our Lives" to go along with his star turn as "Guy Hit In The Nuts By Arizona Pitcher's Amazing Fastball" in that Right Guard Power Strip ad featuring the dodgeball game.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't know that! I am sad I missed out on seeing Kyle get hit in the nuts, I kept hoping something like that would happen to him during his season on the Real World.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Sean went to law school in St. Paul, and a bunch of my friends saw him and Montana hanging out at a collegey-type bar near by where they lived. They said they were pretty normal seeming, and nobody really bothered them.

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

also of note: that girl with the gargantuan lips (sorry, dont watch THAT much real world) from hawaii is on some crappy hidden camera show on the oxygen network..

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Sean also married Rachel from SF, and they have a few kids.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Rebecca/Becky is actually Rebecca Blasband. This link to the AMG page for her late '90s album *Rapt* probably won't work for shit, because AMG links never do, right?:

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=UIDCASS80311061622542118&sql=Atc0xlfdehcqq

chuck, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

wow, it DOES work! that's a first.

chuck, Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)

CORRECTION: The girl with the gargantuan lips from New Orleans (Melissa) is on some crappy hidden camera show on the Oxygen network.

Is everyone else cool with this thread drifting away from the music angle?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Drift away. It's fun.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Totally unrelated:

I went to college with Cory from season 3. She was my friend's girlfriend's (now wife) roommate. She was a typically lame OC girl.

The end

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Chuck, I've found the trick with AMG links is that if you link directly off a result found in a first search (ie, you type in the group name and the bio comes up), you just get that generic URL. Using the example I just described, if you then click an album link and then click on the band's name in that entry, for instance, you'll go back to the group page and the full URL will be there. I'm not sure why this is from a technical standpoint that you have to do this, but there ya go.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Ugh, Cory was annoying.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

So Gygax, what you're saying is that she was accurately portrayed on television?

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Tuesday, 2 December 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

LA dude was Glen and his band (who rather hilariously all moved into the house when he did) was called Perch.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

How about this for a subquestion: Who's Real World side project do you suspect was the worst:

My guesses:
Perch

or

John Brennan (who had a horribly exaggerated twang that sounded like some karaoke bar hell twisted vision of Garth Brooks - I say this as a on-again off-again garth sorta fan)

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 20:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, Tami wins. No one could be worse than her group.

Oh wait, scratch that; ADAM wins.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 21:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Was adam the guy that rapped in the confessional booth in gay paree?

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

There needs to be a record of Adam rapping and New Orleans David singing the hook.

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i have the reigndance record. the copy at wnur had, as its review, 'this sucks, but it's andre from the real world.' i don't think anyone played it.

i had the becky blasband album too - it was one of the mercury albums that flooded the college newspaper's office.

maura (maura), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

also -- wasn't the fifth season miami? which had sarah, the skateboarding cartoonist from wisconsin who would always wear skin graft t-shirts? not sure if she was in a band, though.

maura (maura), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Was Becky's album of any worth? I saw it on half.com for 75 cents and toyed with the idea of buying it.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think Sarah was actually in a band, but some of her friends who came to visit her were.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

At a US Maple show I talked to the guy that ran Skin Graft and he said he knew Sarah through the underground comic scene and she offered to wear all the Skin Graft shirts as a way of guerrilla marketing for the label - appaently she liked Chicago type noise rock alot. He said she was very nice and smart, but she always seemed fairly well adjusted on the show.

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah was FANTASTIC! I loved the fact that she and Cynthia were the most grounded, sensible people on the show AND that they became friends.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes! Cynthia had problably one of the only truly touching stories in the whole of the Real World...like for once the show actually suceeded in opening someone's horizons (but not in a desperate grab to maintain their 15 minutes of fame kinda way), and they actually used it as a way to change their life from the way it had been in a positive way. I love Cynthia.

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 22:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Miami was wierd. You had the whole Joe's Amazon wierdo girlfriend. Dan who managed to make everything be about the fact that he happened to be gay and then MIke - the generically handsome, anonymous, boring white boy of all Real Worlds.

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah is probably the only RWer I would date. Spread the word.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 3 December 2003 22:19 (twenty-two years ago)

oh man...at the end of the final episode of the season, they did little caption updates, and Adam's said something like "Adam is living in Los Angeles with his mother...and he is still doing his raps".

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 4 December 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

HAHAHA!

When I went to get he mail
I fell over a rail
Man, it hurt like Hail
I really don't like to fail

*insert frightening head bop/pop-and-lock combo that looks vaguely like a mid-change Transformer here*

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 4 December 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah's from Wisconsin? Sweet.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 4 December 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, Sean is from Wisconsin, too.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 4 December 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, you said he was on the senate or something.

Funny, I haven't seen him around.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 4 December 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought Sarah was from San Diego?

oops (Oops), Thursday, 4 December 2003 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know, actually; she'd been living in San Diego because she was working for Wildstorm Comics but I don't know if she was actually from there.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 4 December 2003 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

PB, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 01:53 (twenty years ago)

david from seattle's movie about making videotapes for curt smith is played on cable all of the time. he has sex with a baywatch person and her girlfriend.

keith m (keithmcl), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 02:36 (twenty years ago)

yeah i really liked Heather B. i had a copy of her album, the one with "all glocks down" i think - she was with the BDP crew, no? also there was another single called "steady rockin" that got some hot97 playtime.

i remember she was in some music news before because her manager stole a bunch of money from her. also the manager was like her lesbian lover. though i could have totally made that up, but i think thats what happenned.

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 03:00 (twenty years ago)

I'm pretty sure you're right, Phil; she definitely got ripped off by her manager and I remember hearing the LESBIAN angle as well. I hope she made some good cash off of those recent AOL Ads.

Also, did anyone else catch Amaya in the recentish Dunkin' Donuts ads for that steak and egg bagel sandwich with her gothy new hairdo?

oh man, i'm dying. that dude was definitely the most unintentionally funny person in RW history. another one of his great lines from the New Orleans season was when Kelly wanted him to give her a list of what he was planning to do for the next show, and he tells her, "Oh, I see; you want me to MANIFEST a list to you...." -- followed by a look of horror mixed with annoyance by Kelly.

PB, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 14:20 (twenty years ago)

Any news on the Seattle cast member who recorded with Sir Mix-a-lot? Now that I live here, I'm dying to watch that season again.

Kate Silver (Kate Silver), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 14:29 (twenty years ago)

Didn't one of the original cast become a music JOURNALIST- Kevin?

Ken L (Ken L), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 14:32 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, he's gotten facetime on a few VH1 shows (and I imagine he's doing a bit of writing, too).

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 14:35 (twenty years ago)

Kate, Rebecca Blasband was last seen singing lead in KEANU REEVES' BAND!!!

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 14:40 (twenty years ago)

I'm pretty sure Kevin Powell had some success as a music writer before ever getting on the Real World.

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 14:47 (twenty years ago)

Everyone in the first cast had some connection/aspiration towards the music/film industry, IIRC.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 14:48 (twenty years ago)

I see a ROCKRGRL feature: Rebecca, Tami, Heather and Becky roundtable.

Kate Silver (Kate Silver), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 14:57 (twenty years ago)

Yes, the first three casts actually had aspirations and talents (excepting Eric Nies). Not as sensational, but way more satisfying to witness. San Francisco was the best, by the way.

PB, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 15:12 (twenty years ago)

Andre's craptacular band.
http://www.gotmilkweed.com/images/pics7-25-01/Milkweed3.jpg

some mp3's on there. simply shit.

Chris 'The Nuts' V (Chris V), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

Fourth cast had entertainment-inclined people as well (Sharon, Lars, Neil, Jacinda, Jay). Hello, one of the most successful entertainment entities in the Real World pantheon was in the London cast.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 16:12 (twenty years ago)

Very true...good point. I guess I just forgot about London b/c it was such a boring season (except for Neil's tongue incident).

PB, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 16:51 (twenty years ago)

OK, that picture just destroyed me. That dude on the left is just DARING you to rock. In retrospect Andre and the whole first cast were prolly the mellowest cats that show ever had -- back in the day before they started casting strictly on the basis of psychoses/combustibilty/tits/ass.

Dr. Gene Scott (shinybeast), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 18:29 (twenty years ago)

How is that photo not in the Hall of D-bags?

It always seemed like the later casts were basing their behavior on the prototypes/archetypes established in the first show. That first bunch gave at least some semblance of being real human beings as they had to make it up as they went along, at least a little bit.

Ken L (Ken L), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 18:35 (twenty years ago)

Dan, I love how you put LESBIAN in all caps in that post about Heather. It's such an all caps word, if you think about it.

don weiner, Wednesday, 18 May 2005 19:04 (twenty years ago)

You popped a cap on her name!

Ken L (Ken L), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 19:05 (twenty years ago)

I gotta think the London cast was the mellowest, I don't remember a single fight. The worst conflict was when Lars got his bike stolen and he looked mildly upset with the other house members for not watching it more carefully. NY1 had the Kevin-Becky fight ("I'm moodier than you!" "No, I'm moodier!"), and didn't someone throw a chunk of steel (it looked like some gear from an engine) at someone else? The event wasn't taped but the aftermath made it look serious.

nickn (nickn), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 20:28 (twenty years ago)

Also, what was Norman's thing? I don't remember him being on a career trip.

nickn (nickn), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 20:29 (twenty years ago)

Wasn't Norm an aspiring actor?

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 20:43 (twenty years ago)

Painter, I thought.

That first season is absolutely sweet for tangential cameos of working folks: Andre's band doing a radio interview with Matt Pinfield (before he started shaving his head), Becky recording some tracks with future Grammy winner / Fountains of Wayner Adam Schlessinger, etc.
