the media are always going on about how Kylie Minogue is a right saucy little fuckbucket who everyone fancies, but I find everything bout her distinctly unarousing. She looks like she's made of porcelein, for god's sake.

I don't think this thread is sexist. It's about how the Media periodically decides that random women are incredibly attractive and sells them on that basis when this is patently not the case. It's not patriarchy's fault if Kylie is a talentless no-mark celebrity living off her non-looks.

Non-teasy answer: I don't fancy KM, but my sexuality is v.non-mainstream, so who carez (J.Donovan = yuk). She is far from untalented. Media excitement abt her stems primarily from media's own v.feeble misconceptions abt the rules and regs of soap-star career-paths.Which they made up. (Palaver boils down to "she has sex with rock-slebs = she is sexy").

I like the fact that she reinvented herself from being the archetypal girlnext door who fixes cars to a knowing saucy littlefuckbucket.

What's interesting about her is that she was the first lad's mag icon. Now just about every half successful woman has appeared on the front cover of GQ/Loaded/FHM(For happy masturbation) etc but she was in at the point when previously right on men could start going 'phwooar,look at the baps on those', you only have to read copies of NME c 90-91 to see normally sensible journalists losing their head over her.
Quite why it was her rather than someone else I don't know why. I always preferred Dannii.

Why am I getting singled out for equating Kylie's death mask with Lon Chaney when all but like two people on this thread have also done such? Most female celebs aren't particularly attractive, most celebrities in general are disgusting, my tastes run counter to Hollywood pretty boy types and these plasticene women (in some cases, literally, Ms. Jackson) that people always post about. Handful of famous women who I do think are attractive: Jennifer Lopez, Salma Hayek, Uma Thurman, Madonna, Rachael Leigh Cook, Sandra Bullock (except for her adam's apple), Nelly Furtado, Britney Spears...I'm too tired to keep listing.
