Eminem - "We As Americans"

not more "rock" eminem (yay) but more "serious" eminem (nay). hohum galore. he sounds timid, and his 'it takes a real man to walk away from a fight' spiel is as weak as any other, the line where he calls for the president's death doesn't pack half the oompfh as his joking about cheney's heart (how'd that happen?), for the first time his paranoia seems insincere, this could be an 8 mile ost outtake.

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 5 December 2003 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

We'll never see his like again

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 December 2003 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Tangmonkey has the mp3...

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Friday, 5 December 2003 18:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Odd, first verse seems like a gun rights rant, which is kinda a Bushy thing to support.

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Saturday, 6 December 2003 02:06 (twenty-one years ago)

The "gun rights" "Bushy thing" aspect does seem to be kinda cancelled out by the whole "fuck you police" aspect. Reminded me more of the longstanding NWA-and-onwards "exercise the 2nd Amendment against corrupt-ass cops" stance.

i like.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Saturday, 6 December 2003 05:07 (twenty-one years ago)

He sounds really, uh, bored. It also sounds just like "Renegade" but I guess it's taken for granted by now that all his productions sound exactly alike.

"this could be an 8 mile ost outtake." it's from an upcoming outtakes collection isn't it?

Adrian (Adrian Langston), Saturday, 6 December 2003 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I like it more than most of the other Eminem singles I've heard. Better than goofy "My Name Is" Eminem, and tons better than "Cleaning Out My Closet" Eminem, and worlds beyond that last single, with the jock-rock sample (Aerosmith?)

i'm with blount on this one.

I think if Eminem actually goes anti-Bush or something, that would be worrying for the re-election dudes, considering the influence he has on impressionable young 'uns. Of course, this particular lyric is meaningless and goes nowhere. Otherwise, it would have been Karl Rove, and not the Secret Service, that would have gotten its panties in a bunch.

"I think if Eminem actually goes anti-Bush or something, that would be worrying for the re-election dudes, considering the influence he has on impressionable young 'uns."

Yeah right, maybe if they actually voted in the percentages like AARP members.

earlnash, Sunday, 7 December 2003 15:55 (twenty-one years ago)

It would put the dems in a spot tho...

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Sunday, 7 December 2003 20:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Can you imagine if he actually paid a little attention to world events? Lots of great potential rhymes out there -- he already played around with "Hussein" and "Laden" on the last album, just imagine the possibilities: Arafat, Sharon, Baghdad, Fallujah, Karzai, Taliban, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kirkut, Tikrit, Shiite, Sunni, Kuwait, Saudi...it's a damn vowel-lover's paradise.

"I'm just a middle-aged middle-eastern camel-heardin man
I got a little two-bedroom cave here in North Afghanistan
Things used to be real nice and they got out of hand
Since they moved in
They call themselves the Taliban....
But you know someday soon we're both gonna saddle up
And it'll be ride, camel ride
My old lady she'll be here with me
Just smilin right by my side
We should do just fine out around Palestine
Or maybe Turkmenistan
We'll bid a fair adieu and flip the finger to
The Taliban"

Oh wait, that was Toby Keith! Sorry--I always get those guys mixed up.

chuck, Sunday, 7 December 2003 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I turned it off halfway through. Real boring.

Colin Beckett (Colin Beckett), Sunday, 7 December 2003 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi,
where can I download a working version of this song?
I tried everywhere to find it, but even Kazaa only offers broken files.

I'd be thankful for help.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 02:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I love the image of a 15 year old kick typing that and then doing the "cha-ching" move and going "suck on that, rag heads!"

David Allen (David Allen), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

a true artist at work, probably em's best work since his start, not cos it only controversal but the lyrical skill is ill.
