Idle Race: The Birthday Party C/D

An album with nursery-rhyme-like and Music Hall influenced songs whose lyrics are about 31 year-olds still playing with his toys in his room, and about sitting in a tree counting all the people passing by.

They were so twee Syd Barrett sounds like Ian Curtis in comparision. Which is exactly why this album is sooooooo brilliant. Obvious underrated classic IMO, and a shame this album isn't up there with "Sgt. Pepper", "Odessey & Oracle", "Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" and "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake" in the psychedelic "canon".

Clearly one of the forgotten classics that would have deserved more attention - then and now.

The Idle Race are Gorkys Zygotic Mynci's favourite obscure object of desire and, of course, feature a pre-crap Jeff Lynne. I'd love to be able to get some of their stuff on CV but it's all out of print. Any ideas?

No idea really. Soulseek was my only solution, which is too bad.
