Best company at a show

Ok, I was thinking tonight. Costello's playing at the Ryman in Nashville again. I went to Costello's show there in 2002 and it was probably the best concert I have ever seen. But I think half of it was the girl I was with. She was an Elvis neophite. We were in an odd long distance stage in a long, but briefly close, relationship where I was in memphis and she was in Knoxville (about 6-7 hours apart, driving). Anyway, the moments that stick out in my mind are when Elvis played sans microphones or any sort of amplification and whithout anything but a spot light and an acoutic and when he played "I Want You" and the girl I was with just put her hand on the back of my neck as I leaned forward in the subdued late 30's audience as an early 20 year old just soaking it in. It was the only moment of my life where I felt like I was sensually fully loaded and it was wonderful.

But I don't mean to restrict this to only (even mildly) romantic moments. When were the best moment of your life where music and friends, lovers, acquaintences, etc. were involved and amplified the situation to make it change from great to incredible? And I'm not talking about making out/having sex/whatever to some song, I'm talking about a primarily musical experience that was truely made better because of the person/people you where there with.

Speak.

I'm talking about a primarily musical experience that was truely made better because of the person/people you where there with.

I went to a Sting concert in 2000 with my girlfriend at the time (in her late twenties) who only knew a few Police tracks and that goofy dance track Desert Rose. She couldn't get into much of the show due to it focusing mostly on newer material. The musicianship was top notch but, unfortunately, lost on her.

This past October, I took a co-worker (late forties) to see Sting at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NY. She is a Sting fan and was in heaven to finally see him in concert and be only five feet from the stage. We saw an incredible show of mostly all new material, a few older solo selections and two Police songs. We didn't even mind standing in line for three hours and waiting another two for the show to start. Any other woman that I know would have been bitching about the waiting and standing.
The fact that she was just as excited from being there as I was made the show even more enjoyable.

There were a bunch of concerts circa 1996-1997 where I felt surrounded by friends and fun, where I felt transported to the center of the universe.

Concerts have rarely functioned as effective "romantic" dates for me - although I remember the first night my wife (then girlfriend) lived in NYC, we saw Danielson at Fez. That was incredible.

My friend had just dropped out of Berkley (Berklee?) School of Music. I forced him to a AC/DC Back in Black Tour show. I drug him to the front of the stage. He was VERY resistant but by Highway To Hell he was screaming the chorus and pounding air. Good times.
