hi me again.

also currently looking for mid to late 80s r'n'b and soul that's so unfunky it's funky.

these are almost easier to find since they're all dollar records and i could conceivably just go grab a ton of shitty looking records and come home with some winners.

some great things i've found so far:
Don Blackman
Quincy Jones
The Deele
New Edition
Hi Five
Gap Band
Tevin Campbell
SOS Band
Marvin Gaye's "Midnight Love"
Al Jarreau
Norman Connors
Rose Royce

I would disagree with those being "unfunky," but I think I know what you mean.

If you're going to do Al Jarreau, don't miss Grover Washington Jr. The Winelight album came up on another thread a couple months ago, and it's been in my playlist ever since.

five years pass...

mf doom sampled a bunch of pornos and shit, so check out the music in this 'eroticise' clip. starts with all saxophones and strings, but then at 2:28 it zooms into some panthyose and goes all funky, especially at 3:28 it goes electronic. nsfw, obviously. and nobody will believe me, but I swear I happened upon this in fairly innocuous circumstances.

Jimmy McGriff is a pretty good example of what JaXoN was posting about half a decade ago I think (?????)
