Program to edit mp3s?

Looking for a free / shareware program with which I can take 60-second splices of a couple of mp3s and save them as distinct files. Anyone have any recommendations?

I think you have to convert them to WAV files first, do your editing there, then convert them back.

you can do this with mp3s directly using MixMeister.. it isnt technically free..but there are ways.. (check earlier thread and use FlashGet)....

Jody is OTM, Goldwave allows to edit directly on the mp3 (using temp. files), and is shareware.

For something real basic (cuts, fadeouts, and volume adjustments) MP3 Direct Cut works fine.
