Worth seeing indeed. At first I thought that meant The Roots w/ Aesop Rock. Seriously though - thats a jam packed lineup - I'd pay top dollar if I were there.

Ohhhhhhhhhh motherfucker. Little Brother's the only name I haven't heard of; the rest are fire (well, just judging Dice Raw from "Thin Line (Between Raw and Jiggy)", but still). They've GOT to release a double-DVD/live album set for this.

nate detritus (natedetritus), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Dice Raw has been on every Roots CD so far. He's one of the sickest freestylers ever, and has been since he was like 13 (when he guested on The Roots' Organix). God I hope I get to see this.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, Dice kills Black Thought. I hope he puts out another record sometime.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Little Brother is great, actually. Gives me warm fuzzy old De La Soul feelings. What's the Dj's name? 9th Wonder. He does a track on the new Jay-Z.

Actually all of that looks great, except for the Roots, whom I've seen too many times to ever get excited about them again.

Looks like a short "tour."

Aes is great live, and so is his new album. I'm more so'so about The Roots, but it should definitely be worth going to. Which Dice Raw track should I download to get a decent impression?

Jay Kid (Jay K), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

The aforementioned "Thin Line" (though it's 2/3rds Roots MCs on the mic)

nate detritus (natedetritus), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

(my favorite usage of the "Space Dust" break ever)

nate detritus (natedetritus), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

"The Lesson, pt. 1" off of The Roots' Do You Want More?. I think Dice was about 15 then. It's soooo hot.

Very short tour, argh! I wonder how far a drive it is from here to Philly...

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

It's 12 hours from here. Still not as far as driving across Texas.

I am probably the only one (here) who didn't like the Roots in concert. Very half-assed/

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 15:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw the Roots in concert and liked them much better live than on record....decidedly full-assed when I saw them (although maybe you just caught a bad night)

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 10 December 2003 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I liked them a lot in concert too (although I do like the first three records a lot as well), but I've totally fallen out of like with Black Thought.
