Canadians broke my CD player!

Okay, so I have no mechanical knowledge besides the utmost basics.

Canadians broke my CD player; the tray spits all the way out, but only goes halfway back in. What can I do short of opening up the changer and seeing if anything is physically blocking it?

Well, you could always turn the thing upside down to see if there's a rattle or something, but it might be just as easy to unscrew the top and peer in, because just shaking the thing might cause further damage if there's something in there, like a stray CD or something. If you're careful, it's pretty hard to break a player by taking the top off.
